A must visit while in Portland Oregon.

Washington Park is one of Portland's crown jewels, offering a perfect blend of nature, culture, and family-friendly attractions. Nestled in the hills west of downtown, the park spans over 400 acres and features a diverse range of activities for visitors of all ages.

Scenic Beauty & Outdoor Activities

The park is a paradise for nature lovers, with miles of well-maintained trails that wind through lush forests, open meadows, and beautifully landscaped gardens. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful stroll, a challenging hike, or a relaxing picnic spot, Washington Park delivers. The views of the city and Mt. Hood from some areas are breathtaking.

Top Attractions

Portland Japanese Garden – A serene, meticulously designed garden that offers a tranquil retreat with stunning landscaping, koi ponds, and a traditional tea house. It’s one of the best Japanese gardens outside Japan.

International Rose Test Garden – A must-visit, especially in summer when thousands of roses are in full bloom. The fragrance and colors are simply mesmerizing.

Oregon Zoo – Great for families, the zoo features well-designed habitats and a strong conservation focus. The elephant habitat is particularly impressive.

Hoyt Arboretum – A living museum of trees with an extensive trail system, perfect for botany enthusiasts and hikers.

World Forestry Center – An educational center focusing on sustainability and forestry, great for kids and adults alike.

Accessibility & Amenities

Washington Park is easy to access by car, public transit, or even on foot from downtown. The free shuttle that runs within the park during peak seasons makes getting around convenient. Parking can be limited, so visiting early or using transit is recommended. There are clean restrooms, picnic areas, and plenty of benches throughout the park.

Overall Experience

Washington Park is a must-visit destination in Portland, offering something for everyone. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a local, it’s a place where you can relax, explore, and connect with nature. It’s especially beautiful in the spring and summer but...
