September 2025 visit. There is a slight downhill walk to see the gardens in bloom, and there is limited parking. So, if you are going, go to the Portland Zoo parking lot 'C' and catch the free bus to the Rose Garden / Japanese Gardens. There are ramps and at least some stairs (You do not need the stairs). Plan on about 30 minutes. The free bus comes every 15 to 30 minutes, and there are bathrooms, a snack bar, and a water fountain. Across the road from the snack bar is a path to the Japanese Gardens entry and its free up-the-hill shuttle (for us older folk), the young can walk the path.

This is a very nice amphitheater that I believe you can also rent to host your wedding ceremony. We came here today but unfortunately they didn't have any shows so we just saw how it's usually is without any lighting or decorations. The place is open to the public so you don't have to pay. We uber here so it was very easy for us to walk from the Rose Garden. The view is nice and the stage is pretty big. We also went behind the stage and it's like a little hidden alley.

A relatively small but well-kept amphitheater just next to the International Rose Test Garden. A great place for picnics when not being used for performing arts.
