Read moreSeptember 2025 visit. There is a slight downhill walk to see the gardens in bloom, and there is limited parking. So, if you are going, go to the Portland Zoo parking lot 'C' and catch the free bus to the Rose Garden / Japanese Gardens.
There are ramps and at least some stairs (You do not need the stairs). Plan on about 30 minutes. The free bus comes every 15 to 30 minutes, and there are bathrooms, a snack bar, and a water fountain.

We came here today but unfortunately they didn't have any shows so we just saw how it's usually is without any lighting or decorations. The place is open to the public so you don't have to pay.
