This preserve is a lovely place to spend a few quiet hours— it’s hard to imagine the bustle of Nassau Street just a mile away! A variety of paths are available like a pick-your-own adventure suitable for all ages, fitness levels, and activities (walking, running, biking).
In the wooded areas, trails are decently marked with colored triangles, and the maps posted at trailheads are easy to read. I would highly recommend wandering around rather than sticking to a particular route. You never know what you might come across! During a 5 mile roam, I passed a bubbling stream lined by mossy rocks, crossed three foot bridges, admired a sculpture of a chestnut leaf, and found a little house nestled at the bottom of a tree.
I only wish the area were better maintained— there are LOTs of dead/fallen trees and some trails are being overgrown...

You definatley want to watch where and how you step become some of the placements of rocks will trip you up if your not paying attention. Amazing views and picture opportunities on this walk. I'm mainly talking about the Stuart-Witherspoon trail which is the yellow 1.1 mile walk for these shots. Really enjoyed this walk with my 3 year old Goldendoodle who had no problem walking, jumping, and hoping these boulders. Read moreThere are some places that you'll remember for many years. This ain't one of them. This is, however, an excellent place to clear your mind and enjoy a refined version of nature. It is a large, clean park with many pathways. I'd recommend to stick to the main (paved) road for the first half mile or so on or after a rainy day.
