We were a group of eight dining at The Local Greek restaurant last night, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing—mainly due to poor service and restrictive payment policy. While the food was generally good, we ordered appetizers, a large meat platter with additional sides, and dessert. The large meat platter was decent, but portions of it, particularly the French fries, were served cold. While that might have been excusable, the service was not. From the appetizers through to the main course and then desert, the staff consistently removed plates without asking if we were finished, even when it was clear we were not as we still had plenty of food on the table. Despite repeatedly telling them we were not done they continue to clear the table. They took the meat platter prematurely, even though it had a significant amount of food left on it. When they did take it, we specifically asked for the leftovers to be wrapped. Frankly, given the amount of food left, they should have wrapped it automatically. However, after some time, we inquired about the leftovers only to discover they had thrown everything away. They eventually prepared a small to-go tray to compensate, but this should never have been necessary in the first place. The overall experience felt rushed. While the restaurant was busy when we arrived, it became noticeably less crowded midway through our meal. Yet, the staff continued to clear plates and the table prematurely, without confirming if we were finished. At one point, we had three desserts on the table that we were sharing. Although there was still dessert left on the plates as we were still picking at them, the staff cleared them all away without asking. This lack of attentiveness made the entire experience feel hurried and far from relaxing. To make matters worse, the payment process was frustratingly restrictive. As a group of eight, we were informed that we could not pay using a mix of cash and credit—it had to be entirely one or the other. I never heard of any restriction like that, you would think they would want the cash. When we opted for credit, the waiter imposed an additional restriction, we could only use two credit cards to split the bill. We told him that we were four couples but he reiterated he can only split the bill using two credit cards. This policy is highly inconvenient and unlike anything we’ve encountered at other restaurants. Our group has been dining together for years and has never faced such limitations. For larger groups, this practice is simply unreasonable and impracticable. Between the rushed service, the small tables, and the restrictive payment policy, our experience was far from enjoyable. While the food was ok, we cannot recommend The Local Greek to anyone looking for a relaxing dinner with good service. So if you’re looking for a relaxing dinner of good Greek food, I say go anywhere but there. NOT...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Local Greek in Princeton, NJ, and I can't help but share my incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, Local Greek enveloped me in its cozy charm and welcoming ambiance, instantly transporting me back to the streets of Greece.
The staff at Local Greek greeted me with genuine warmth, making me feel like an old friend rather than just a customer. Their enthusiasm for the menu was contagious, and their recommendations added a personal touch to my dining adventure.
Local Greek's menu is a true love letter to Greek cuisine, and each dish feels like a cherished family recipe passed down through generations. It's clear that they prioritize using fresh, local ingredients, and the flavors speak for themselves.
The appetizers were an absolute delight. The Spanakopita, with its flaky layers and that oh-so-perfect spinach and feta filling, instantly won me over. And the Tzatziki and Hummus platter was a dance of creamy and tangy flavors that left my taste buds singing.
When it came to the main course, I couldn't resist trying the Grilled Souvlaki. The meats were tender and bursting with flavor, and the traditional Greek salad on the side was the perfect companion. And let's not forget the Grilled Octopus – it was like a culinary masterpiece, perfectly charred and tender in all the right ways.
To cap off my meal, I indulged in the Baklava, a dessert that felt like a warm hug from Greece itself. The layers, the nuts, the honey – it was pure perfection.
What truly impressed me about Local Greek is their commitment to authenticity. It's not just about the food; it's about the love and passion they put into every dish. The respect for tradition shines through while still embracing a modern twist that makes the experience truly unique.
For anyone seeking an honest-to-goodness Greek culinary adventure, Local Greek is an absolute must. The ambiance, the service, the flavors – they all come together to create an unforgettable dining experience that feels like it was tailor-made for me. Local Greek has undoubtedly captured my heart (and my taste buds), and I can't wait to return for another round of...
Read moreAuthentic Greek gem in Princeton! I don't understand anybody giving Local Greek under 5 stars! Everything here was so fresh and delicious! We had the spanakopita and the fried Saganaki as appetizers. The spanakopita was so fresh, and they gave us two generous pieces for only $7.95! Fried Saganaki is one of my favorite things to order at a Greek restaurant, and this one did not disappoint! It's was so good! For entrees we ordered the moussaka and the Mitsos Lamb which was slow oven baked lamb with dried apricots, dried figs, and in a red wine balsamic glaze. Both were delicious! The Mitsos Lamb was Fantastic! It was the best Greek dish we had anywhere! It's a must order here! Words can't even explain all the flavors that dish had, and the lamb was so tender! We decided every time we go there we definitely will be ordering that entree for sure, and split another one too. For desserts we ordered the Ekmek, baklava, and we took the kataifi to go. Our favorite out the three was the baklava! It tasted like it was fresh out the oven! It was served warm topped with honey. The Ekmek tasted very fresh too, and the custard was very good! It wasn't sweet at all so I recommend it for someone that isn't looking for something sweet. I personally wouldn't order the Ekmek again only because I prefer the more sweeter Greek desserts. The kataifi was good, but I didn't see any vanilla and chocolate inside as it said it would have on their menu. They had a ton of appetizers here to choose from, but I think they need to expand their entree menu. Some of my favorite Greek entrees they should add are octopus youvetsi, shrimp santorini, and lamb chops to name a few. I highly recommend dining at Local Greek in Princeton, and definitely order the Mitsos Lamb as one of...
