I happened upon this place years ago one Super Bowl Sunday when nothing else was opened, and having forgotten the name and being unfamiliar with Princeton as I was, I mourned the fact that I'd never find it again. But still, I dreamed of the meal I had. -- It's not every meal that you can crave after having had it once.
Admittedly, my expectations were low upon entering the establishment. After all, how often have I been let down by foods with the word "mango" in the title? When my sweet and spicy mango tofu was placed in front of me, I was delighted: there appeared to be /real/ chunks of mango in my meal! Surely, it was too good to be true, I thought. There are so many ways mango can be done so, so wrong. But sure enough, I popped a morsel of mango into my mouth, and I melted. I tried some of the tofu and -- however the heck they made it-- it was out of this world. For such a hole-in-the-wall kinda place (as far as holes and walls go in Princeton), I had a phenomenal experience.
Now that I've been reunited with Hunan, I can leave it the review it deserves. The people that run the place are cute, the fact that it has parking in the back is nice, the food is way affordable, and everything is tasty as heck.
And everyone I have taken here has only justified the high regard I have for Hunan. It has yet to disappoint. Anyone with taste buds will...

Positives first: The space is clean, well-maintained, and nicely decorated—I especially liked the wall of international currencies and even offered to bring a Pakistani bill next time. The staff was friendly, and I got my order quickly. Great service overall.
I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken, which was marked as spicy. Under $10 for a meal in Princeton is a rare find, so definitely a budget-friendly option. That said, I probably should’ve waited before eating—maybe the dish would’ve settled better. It was hot (temperature-wise), but not really spicy, despite visible chili flakes. The chicken was very crispy—perhaps over-fried—and the sauce tasted more like a sweet chili jam, which isn’t my thing. I was hoping for something a bit more savory or balanced. I finished the meal because I was hungry, but I didn’t really enjoy it.
That said, it might just have been the wrong order for my taste. I’d consider giving it another shot and exploring other dishes.
Tips:
I ‘m new to Princeton and wanted to try a new Chinese restaurant. When I arrived, staff was friendly and welcoming facility was clean. Asked for a pork egg roll and received a shrimp egg roll. Chicken and broccoli had lots of garlic and small pieces of chicken swimming in sauce. There was a chicken bone in my meal. Second item we ordered was Mushu chicken when we opened it it did not have the roll ups and there was chicken and beef and a large chicken bone. Sorry it’s close to our new home but we...
