A dog parent utopia exists and it's Miller Meadow. 7 acres, while pretty flat terrain look modest yet sizable of happy fun runs dappled with occasional small trees. The atmosphere is kind, not a bother that I just picled up after your dog - you will do the same pay it forward kind of vibe, with water bowls and an immaculately clean grassy lot with a central coveres pavillion. Everyone is considerate, watchful and helpful. Now for the dogs feedback: LOVE Our two are eager to get into the gated space to meet new pups and run, run, run. They love it. Handfuls of tennis balls and toys are spread out among the field and pet parents often bring a something to share. Every visit there have been one or two dogs but not more than 10 which leaves lots of room for running, play and supervision. Thankful to the park district for keeping this spotless and to the other attendees for establishing this beautiful code of conduct that could happily lend it self to larger parts of the world. You need to pre-register with vet history and pay minimal fee for key card access pass. A water filling and drinking station would complete the needs yet paw-rents bring small coolers of fresh water to...
Read moreBEWARE! We used to love taking our dog to Miller Meadow. We were there early Sunday morning on Feb 27th. We were the only ones at the park. A guy came with two dogs. A small brown dog and a black and white dog. He came into the park threw a ball and as is typical for dogs all dogs ran after the ball including our dog. While retrieving the ball our dog was viciously attacked by the black and white dog. The dog took a chunk out of the side of our dog. Vet bill was $450!! Our dog was in distress so we immediately ran him to an emergency Vet clinic. In following up with The Forest Preserve Police and the Forest Preserve....no one wanted to do anything to help even though we had this guy's license plate number. In retrospect we should have called the FP police after the incident occurred but desperately wanted to get help for our dog. Don't think we will...
Read moreThe park is nice, patrons of the dog park aren't. I've brought my dog to the area outside the dog park as part of his socialization, but too many dog park patrons don't believe in leashing their dogs when they leave that area and also haven't trained their dogs to be safely off-leash. My dog and I got charged by a LARGE dog as his owner was trying to get him in the car, and we were nowhere near the dog park. All his owner could do was yell that he was friendly while he pretended to recall his dog. Meanwhile my dog thought he was about to...
