I phoned them (3 times Friday Sept 21, 2018) & got an answering machine. No message telling me I even reached the correct people.
Yelp says that they close at 5. Google Maps said they'd close "within one hour of my arrival time." So no one knows that they are CLOSED! As in not open at all for business (at least for days, weeks, or months).
I arrived at 5:10. They are fenced off & the gate is closed. It is apparent that they have been closed for days or weeks. It seems like a strange time to be seasonally closed as other berry farms are selling berries. Berries are growing good in my home garden.
Their fields are behind their store. The fields look like they are dirt mounds covered in plastic. I guess they are preparing for planting?
I should give them 1 star for poor communication.
I returned 2 days ago (April 3, 2019) & they were open. Isn't it poor business that they never attempted to communicate with me regarding my previous visit & phone messages?
They indeed appeared to have large red strawberries. I was shocked to find a 1/2 crate to be $23. I am accustomed to purchasing a full crate of truly red juicy tasty berries for $15-20 so this is extremely high. Perhaps it is because it is early in the season? I bought since they have the "reputation" to have juicy red berries.
I am home & eating them now. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! They are solid white on the inside. They are not juicy or ripe. They are crispy like an apple. Their taste is marginally "ok". I wouldn't have purchased even one basket for this mediocre quality. I will not return.
To substantiate my claim about quality & prices: Truly red juicy tasty berries can be bought on Hwy 132 just west of Modesto on a farm, also in American Canyon on a highway on a highway, and also at a farm on the way to Paradise from Oroville (not positive that it is still there due to the Camp Fire). My wife & I also grow some in our backyard garden but not enough for our consumption which is why I...

Β Β Β Read moreIts May, 18th 2025. I arrive to get some of the best strawberries in this area only to find out this is their LAST season for strawberries because the city / private equity has an ongoing battle to buy out this land to build apartments. They currently only have half their fields planted. Many many many years ago this area was known for its delicious strawberries. Now, there's only a handful of farms left. I hope these places stay because these beautiful pieces of history that you can eat... are slowly going away for apartments that are over-priced with no decent jobs around.
Also, if you're going to get some of their strawberry-heritage-grown strawberries--google maps is wrong. You might have to bust a U-turn...
