Been to this place on a number of occasions since my high school days, so I've seen both good and bad changes here as new managers/owners made their mark. Games are still good, laser based activities (not just tag but also a laser "tripwire" type maze) kept my daughters recent birthday party entourage well entertained for 3+ hrs. Laser guns &/or something in the main zone ocassionally malfunctions. if that occurs mid game, staff typically provides free "make-up" cards to each party member to redo a session when technical difficulties have been rectified. Note the place does have a dance music room, complete with smoke machine, disco lights, etc. if that's your thing. It's however not included in the venues most expensive birthday package (about $400 currently) and is a couple of hundred dollars extra on top of that.
Now the not so good: food & drinks...Pizza is the main entree here."Pizza" at this place, if you can even call it that, used to be acceptable is now absolutely atrocious. I've eaten my share of good & lackluster pizza. I'm obviously not expecting restaurant grade stuff here, but the thing they serve? Some sort of gluten free, dairy free, flavor free, pick your free science experiment that makes a slice of untoasted bread with kraft imitation cheese & ketchup taste better. I get the owner's interest in inclusivity, but it should NOT be forced and especially NOT with party food. Adults also accompany kids to venues like this & they have reasonable expectations to the taste and quality of main entrees offered. I ordered 3 pies, the kids, who will typically eat anything after running & working up an appetite for over an hr,wolfed down 2 of them, leaving a whole pie left. However no adult in my group took more than one bite and then trashed their slices in disgust. Birthday parties when most kids will be consuming party stuff junk food like candy (mind you, from the venues prize shop),chips, soda, hotdogs, appetizers, etc. should not be passed thru the food filter...if you want to offer an "x free" pizza, do so, but also do the due diligence for those of us not part of the "organic" or alternative food craze & offer regular dough sauce cheese pizza. Speaking of drinks, this place used to offer pepsi products...it now subjects every patron to "oogave" co. fountain drinks, & again fails miserably when it comes to taste. Not everything is worthy of agave sweetner use. At least 4 out of 5 adults and a few kids complained of an off flavor & syrupy mess. Good thing we bought our own catered entrees & drinks.
Other than the food arcade selection, although kinda small in variety to my recollection of arcade heydays, was good and the kids & I enjoyed the unlimited option as well as the non arcade style games like hoops and ball toss. I give this place a 3.5 outta 5 but google reviews doesnt allow for that. If you don't have big dining expectations, you'll have a pretty...
Read moreYesterday I had one of the worst experiences of my life at this place of business! I purchased 4 tickets costing a total of $158 to the Laserdome's Verse Immersive show which lasts an hour and a half. I purchased these tickets as a birthday present for my 8 year old grandson's and my 80 year old disabled mother in law's birthday. I was so excited for them to have this fun unique awesome event experience because my grandson loves science and my mother in law due to her disability doesn't get out much other than doctor's appointments. We drove 1.5 hours to get to Laserdome to enjoy this special event and after the event, have to drive another 1.5 hours back home after the event was over. However, 10 minutes into the immersive event, the headset fell off of my 8 year old grandson's head, when we went to a staff member to have them put the headset back on his head, we were told that they couldn't do that. They told us that if a headset falls off or is taken off ones head, they cannot put it back on that person's head but rather, that person can no longer play the game. There is NOTHING on Laserdome's website putting a customer on notice of about this so called rule, nor did any of the staff members tell us this fact when they were first fitting us with the headset. I tried to explain to the manager on site about how important this event is to my 8 year old grandson and elderly mother in law because it is their special birthday present. Nope, to them, it is the rule period and they were going to do nothing to accomodate or assist us in any way. They also denied that their staff didn't put my grandson's headset on tight enough. They would not assume or accept any responsibility nor would they do anything to accomodate or resolve the issue other than, we could no longer participate in the event. What made the whole experience even worse was how we were treated by their young inexperienced and immature manager because he never addressed my concerns about the situation but rather he was argumentative, very belligerent, sarcastic, condensending, unprofessional and very disrespectful toward me and my family. That is when I asked the manager to talk to the general manager and was told that I had to contact the owner of the business which I did call him while I was there for resoluation but only got his voice mail. When I asked the staff for a full refund, I was denied a full refund and when I then texted the owner, he also refused to refund me nor did the owner care about how his manager treated me and my family. I guess the owner only cares about making money and not concerned at all about the customer or customer satisfaction. This truly was the worst experience that I have ever had at a place...
Read moreWe just went to this place on a Sunday and overall our kids enjoyed it (the arcade mostly) but we had a really bad experience with the laser tag game. They have time slots you sign up for on their computers where you enter your name, DOB, gender etc. Then it takes all the entrants and assigns them to two teams. Now I'm not sure if this process is completely random or if it has an algorithm where it tries to balance the teams out somehow using ages etc (that would be the smart way to do it!). So we get in the starting room where they explain the game and they have the teams up on the screen and it looks like a pretty even split of adults/teens/kids on each team. Our team had one extra player but it also had my son who is 4 yrs old so no real advantage to us. The other players were another family and then a birthday party of kids 10+ yrs old and their Mom. Well Mom is one of those insufferable Karens who insists on speaking to the manager (who is just a teenager btw, not the actual manager) and she's bent outta shape because we have an extra player and she doesn't like how her birthday party kids were evenly split on the two teams, so she pitches a fit and as usually happens with Karens, she gets her way and the teen in charge changes the team makeup to suit her. So this pits myself and my wife (middle aged), our little 4 year old and his 7 yr old brother, another middle-aged family with kids who were a few years older than ours (8 or 9) etc against an army of middle school kids. So predictably it was not a fair match which would have been fine if they weren't such bullies as well. They surrounded my 4 year old and blasted him mercilessly till he was bawling on the floor, like I can't even fathom where your head is at picking on a little kid like that, it was just ugly behavior. The teenager supposedly running the laser tag of course was nowhere to be found throughout most of the game. And my older son kept having issues with his suit/gun not recharging and when I finally tracked down the teen her response was 'just stand in front of it (the charge station) it will eventually do it'. So while the other team is peppering us with laser fire, we're waiting 30-60 secs for his suit to charge, it was not a good experience at all, I would not recommend it.
Note to the actual management - Stop letting Karens ruin the experience for others. Whatever your system is for deciding teams, stick with it, people shouldn't be allowed to game the system in their favor after the fact, it's unfair, it's unsportsmanlike and it encourages these kinda Moms to do it...
