This is a place just to go for beer, THAT’S IT!! I try to support our locals business, but if you don’t respect me or my family I cannot support you. I took my mom for the first time and the experience was unpleasant. I don't know if I have the space or time to write everything that was wrong in this place. First, we chose the patio area since it was a nice day. When we sat down the chairs were full of cobwebs and spiders walking on the chairs (one of my daughter's biggest phobias) we didn't say anything, we shook them with our hands and sat down. The waitress came to take the order, we ordered food quickly. We were tired and very hungry. First, what is on the menu does not reflect what they bring you and charge you. We order the “build your own burger “ it’s says for $13.50 ,you can add your toppings but there was an extra charge of $1 for bacon and $.50 for mushrooms. I confirm this info with the waitress ask her “ I can add as many toppings, but there’s an extra charge for bacon & mushrooms “ she confirm with #10 YESES. We proceed to order #3 of those . Between the three persons that choose this option , some of the toppings were: peppers, jalapeños, pickles, bacon and mushrooms. Also I said if I can change my bread to brioche they said “it would be a charge of $1.50 “I switch it. While we were waiting(a lot by the way) One of the waiters(a different one)came and said “the chef want you to know that there would be and extra charge for pickles and jalapeños” Huh!! I told her “that was not what it says on the menu and ask my waitress before ordering””she said well that’s what he said” we were hungry so we were like… Whatever.!! When they bring the plates the presentation very disappointing. Plates were dirty and the disproportion on the plates were very noticeable. One of the plates( by the way the expensive one) barely had fries, while in the other one there were a lot and other one was in the middle not at lot of fries but some. We were like wow! “They barely put fries on your plate. When they bring my plate…they bring my burger in a ciabatta bread 😑 when I order a brioche. I had to switch it for the regular burger bun they had. When the waitress came back I made the comment about the noticeable disproportion of the fries and presentation. Her response was “ what did you count them” super rude and sarcastic. When I was about to finally eat my burger there was no peppers or pickles ( the extra charge that was not in the menu btw) I told the waitress, they didn’t put the pickles or peppers. She said “we don’t have peppers “ but she never let us know ahead of time . They gave me #2 pickles and I finally ate my burger . The waitress never brought napkins, would pass by the table and wouldn’t even look at us. When we asked for the bill I told her I would like to speak with the manager. Manager came and while I was explaining the experience I just had… the owner Mark step in the conversation with a hard face and a agitated energy. We explained the several situations. One of his responses was “ he does not use measurements in his kitchen, that he had never had complaints about the portions of the fries. He try to say that the fries were a “gift” because the quality of his burger cover the expense and more. That there were no places that included fries with your burger( not sure where he has been) he had the nerve to say if we wanted more fries( with a very passive aggressive tone) when we were done eating and some of the food were packed in boxes. After not taking the criticism and try to justify the several mistakes and rude actitud of his waitress. He processed to take one of the burgers...
Read moreI invited 2 of my friends that I haven't seen in years to the event your establishment held and planned to have dinner together at your Tavern before shopping and looking at the artists sculptures on the Ave. We sat ourselves at a table after standing for 5 min, that did not have a reservation sign on it as there didn't seem to be a hostess working there. Not a second went by and a short young blonde waitress appears from the hallway and asked me if I had a reservation and I replied no, she said it's reserved. I ask if she had a table available and she says one just open and started to stutter for a second and turns and walks back to a dining area. I thought she was making sure it had been cleared and set with silverware. We walked back to the end of the bar and stood against the wall for 20 min she never came out again. We had watched a waitress pass us several times and the barmaid was busy but my thinking is, If there are 3 ladies standing with no beverages for 20 min and their coats on, one would ask, Is there anything I can do for you. Your place was full but not packed. I invited my friends from Lancaster out to a place that felt like we weren't worth noticing and made us feel embarrassed. We arrived at 6:30 we left and went to a place I would have never considered next door. We entered and can you believe, "can I help you" were the first thing we heard. By the time we sat down to the only table they had available and ordered then ate our dinner. Most of the stores closed we wanted to shop and looked at the sculptures we left with complete disappointment about the entire evening of Fire and Spice hosted by West Reading Tavern. We will stay in our neck of the woods where you get treated better and go to Lititzs events...
Read moreWR Tavern is a quiant little bar/restaurant in the middle of the 600 block in West Reading. Like many of the other restaurants in West Reading, they typically serve up some yummy faire. We went for the duck duck beer event tonight and the food was really only okay for the price. The duck dish I got was $32. I have no qualms about paying a hefty price for food as long as it's delicious. However, my duck breast serving was really small. The plate was mostly mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes were under seasoned, the green beans were seasoned perfectly, but the almonds on top of the green beans were really salty. The duck was cooked perfectly and the cherry sauce was good. The dish was only edible if I ate the almonds together with the mashed potatoes because the saltiness of the almonds would be mellowed out by the unseasoned mashed potatoes. We also had the duck cigars, which were very meaty and tasty. Additionally, we had the dates wrapped in duck bacon, and that was okay too. We were really looking forward to the duck duck beer event, but it was a little bit of a let down. The service was okay/good. The waitress did a decent job. I did tell her that I would be ordering takeout as well when we ordered our entrees. I attempted to place my to go order after our appetizers came out, but she told me they were no longer making entrees then. I just wish she would have told us to order sooner and let us know there was a time we had to order our to go meal by. Also, we were charged an extra alcoholic beverage that we did not get and it was really hard to get the check at the end of the night because the waitress when tied up helping the...
