Mazi is beautiful. Very European, open air concept. There were 6 of us in our party. We started with fried zucchini and tzatziki and mini gyros for appetizers. Zucchini was not flavorful, as if it had not been seasoned at all after it came out from being fried. Tzatziki was tasty. Mini gyros were a cute concept, however, the meat was was tough and hard to chew. The olive bread served with olive oil for dipping is very tasty. For entrees, 3 of us got souvlaki. It was typical souvlaki, but made with filet instead of lamb. They all enjoyed it. 1 of us had salmon and said it was tasty. 2 of us had the lamb shanks. We both have had them many times, so we expected them to be fall off the bone tender. They were very tough and sinewy, swimimg in greasy sauce. The orzo was hard to find in the sauce. It was floating in the sauce. We both mentioned it to a server and she agreed it was too much sauce so two bowls of extra orzo were brought to us to pour into our dishes to try to absorb the sauce.
The thing that was most noticeable and disappointing was the service. Our server was a young lady, inexperienced and frazzled. She initially got our drink orders wrong because she didn't understand different types of liquor or preparations. Our water was not refilled. We were not offered a second cocktail, wine or coffee with dessert. She seemed overwhelmed and the bartender had to come to our table to assist her. He apologized several times. He was very helpful, but truthfully, he needed to be behind the bar because he was very busy.
We all decided that we will give Mazi another try in a few more weeks, understanding that COVID presents challenges for restaurants and for finding wait staff. The restaurant is lovely and inviting and a nice concept. There are several positive reviews I've read on Facebook, so perhaps we just hit...
Read moreFRESH! That’s what it is. We absolutely love this brunch spot! When you first walk in you notice the huge window that slides all the way open. It is so nice to enjoy a cool breeze in the spring and the sunshine on a sunny day! It’s a smaller dining area but you don’t even realize it. The food is amazing! We have been here about 5 times in the last 4 months!!! My favorite is the Short Rib Quesadilla!! I get it allll the time. My husband’s favorite is the Go Green Omelette!! Every time we get our food, I’m so excited to eat my favorite meal, I forget to take a picture. Our cocktails are always on point. We have never had to send them back. (Like some other places we have ate at.) The prices are really good especially for the quality of the food. The service is one of a kind! Shout out to Lilly!!! She’s been our waitress a few times. The last time that we ate at FRESH she was not our waitress but remembered us, came over to greet us and made sure we were enjoying our meal and drinks. That’s what you call great service! Overall this is the place to go if you’re looking for great food and great service!! We can’t wait until the dinner spot opens across...
Read moreFresh! From NJ - So happy we found this gem while staying in Reading PA. If you're anywhere within 30-45 mins it's worth the trip. From the min you walk in & greeted by the amazing staff, who seem to work as team (one server oversees your table & takes your order, but every server, including the owner! stops by to check water coffee or any other need). That in itself is hard to find these days, but the food is even better. Poached eggs, french toast, incredible bacon like you don't get anywhere else & the best crispy home fries- but many others like chirzo bowls etc. And to take it one step further, there's a bar that serves what looks like flights of mimosas, bloody marys or whatever your drink may be that day. It was all perfect start to finish. I only wish we lived a little closer. Do not hesitate to go if you're...
