I normally love doing initial reviews on restaurants and shops. My photos have been seen by hundreds of thousands of people around the world for places from San Diego to Maine and everywhere in between. So know that I’m not just an average reviewer…
I was in the area for the WWII Weekend adventure with my middle son and we had gone to grab a bite to eat since the weather had delayed the air show. I picked this spot for the reviews and the menu options. This place was loud, busy and crowded, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. They had a guy singing live doing cover songs and it was Happy Hour.
Our waitress, Jacqueline was fantastic, and the reflection of this review is mostly on her handling of our situation since it wasn’t her fault.
We ordered our apps and food, I ordered a beer and we waited. Nearly 20 minutes goes by and my salad comes out, but my 6yo was starving so I waited for his mozz sticks. Another 10-15 and his mozz sticks come out. Salad was ok, needed a bit more dressing. His mozz sticks weren’t bad at all, and came out extremely hot. He had no complaints. About another 20-25 minutes and his kids burger and fries come out, which btw, there isn’t a kids menu, but I guess she understood he wanted a kids burger and not a traditional sized one which I was happy to pay for. So something to keep in mind, that there’s no viewable kids menu, if at all. I wait, and wait, and wait. He finishes his burger, most of his fries, we play on my phone, and after about the hour an 20 minute mark, I get asked by a completely different waitress what I was waiting on. I explained and then she never stopped by again.
Within this time, I watched people at the bar who had only come in 20 minutes prior get their food. I watched as a table of over 7 adults plus kids got their food sporadically over 30-40 minutes. 2 full plates, 1 full plate, a random burger by itself with an apology, sides with apologies, and it continued. I noticed that what appeared to be managers or bartenders and bus boys delivering food because the wait staff were busy or non-existent, but the food coming out made no logical pattern.
Finally Jacqueline shows up and asks how things are. I look down and tell her that I’ve still never received my food. Explained that someone came to check, explained that I know she’s been busy and that the food delay isn’t her fault because her other tables were getting food coming out like everyone ordered separately and it made no sense. She apologized profusely and offered to check. I declined and asked for the bill and she said she’d happily not charge us for my dinner since it never came. She insisted on trying to give it to me to go, and I insisted that unless it was ready, I wasn’t waiting.
I got our check and paid, but she also took about 10 minutes to do that, so that was my only negative for her.
During that wait, the bus boys came out apologizing about the food and I had a box for his leftovers and my whole meal.
I wasn’t excited about that but left her a decent tip anyways cause she was as on top as could be for when we saw her.
Here comes the kicker… besides the horrible delay of the meal that Friday evening, and the horribly sporadic plates coming out of the kitchen, the food was amazing!
I didn’t get a bite of his burger but I had a couple fries and they were fantastic. Not sure what they do with their grease/oil, but the fries were great. Typical frozen restaurant fries but the flavor was great.
As I sat in the car for a minute I opened my box cause my son wanted some more fries and tried my sweet potato fries. Now soggy due to the heat, of course, but absolutely still flavorful. I pick up my burger and it looked amazing! Back at the hotel I started eating my burger and it was perfectly pink as req’d and so delicious.
If you have the time to waste, and can deal with not getting your food in a timely manner, but want good food, I recommend this place. However, maybe not make it your only option for...
Read moreRight now the menu is very small to read ( haha ) and limited. They are redoing the menu shortly. The whole menu is full out delicious food. The wings were awesome. There special house sauce was right right spice level. My mother and I both had scallops with brussel spouts and tiny square shaped potatoes. My son had a cheese burger with this brown tan type bun. And French fries. The beer selection is also beer revamped too. They also have a back room with a long board shuffle board table. This bar definitely is a sports bar!!!! You will not miss any sport you want to see on all very many TV's up on the walls. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars was due to the fact that the only thing that was excellent and so, so good were the 4 very big scallops. The brussel sprouts were cut in half but so very, very hard to eat. They seemed like they weren't even cooked just browned a little bit. As far as the small square potatoes they too were very hard. My mother needs dentures and I already have a front chipped tooth. So all we ate for our dinner were the four very big and yummy scallops. When the waitress read off the desserts the first one was some type of chocolate peanut butter pie, the second was a blueberry crumble ( which I " thought " ) would be like apple crisp. With ( crumble ) on the top of blueberry along with the blueberry juice and sticky stuff. What I received was cheesecake with blueberries on top and about 4 or 5 blueberries along the sides on the plate with blueberry drizzle. I'm not sure what they think the word crumble means. I did not expect to get cheesecake. If I wanted cheesecake I would have ordered the cheesecake which was one of the desserts the waitress mentioned. The coffee was very good. My mother wrote a note on back of the bill about the issues we had with our food. She went and I'm assuming showed her supervisor due to this young man coming to our table and talking about what our issues were. HE stated he would not charge us for the bill, which was very nice and respectful of him. Then while I was finishing my coffee another tall gentleman with a black eye patch, due to having something done to his eye, because I told him he looked cool wearing it and he said only 2 more weeks then he can take it off. HE told us he was just taking 10% off our check after we were told we didn't have to pay. I certainly would have paid for my son's wings, and hamburger with fries. But my mother and I only ate 4 scallops, and I had coffee with blueberry crumble - which was just cheesecake. We, of course will go back once their menu is complete and the beer is all in order. Maybe I'll remember to take pictures of the plates of food. I for some reason just never remember to get my phone out to take pictures of the...
Read moreCame here with a date and two hours later got kicked out with no explanation. I ordered all of two drinks and kept to myself with my date in one of the side room with the game machines. A regular customer who met my date before kept hanging around us and kept drinking throughout the night. He eventually got cut off by one bartender yet somehow was able to get more drinks and could barely keep his head up. At one point he threatened me to go talk to other women because he claimed he was going to sleep with my date. I told him no and that he needs to leave us alone. He then proceeded to whisper to one of the staff members and a minute later a bouncer came over to me and told me it was “time for me to leave.” I was polite and non-confrontational and asked what was going on… he refused to answer and told me to get moving. And I asked once again why and he still wouldn’t say anything (picture of the coward tough guy bouncer attached). So I was forced to leave and get humiliated by having everyone watch me get escorted out the building - even the bartenders looked shocked and confused because I was doing nothing wrong. I don’t know if the drunk customer lied to them about me or if he is buddy buddy with the bouncer but that is super concerning. But I clearly got thrown out because the drunk customer wanted me out of his way. The fact this even happened should be unacceptable, it’s unsafe that the thought of this could happen to other patrons. Even worse, they were going to let a drunk customer drive home and potentially take advantage of someone. Safe to say I will not...
