this is a precious little place that packs a huge punch so don't let the size fool you. however, as much as I want to overlook the following or pretend it's not a major impact on the experience because the staff here is so incredible and kind and you can tell a lot of love went into the place and each exhibit, there are three major factors that greatly affect the experience. first is I guess the smallest, but at the same time it's affected my family getting to go week after week, and that is that they are only open 2 days a week until 5:00. and one of those days is a weekday! as most of you are aware our whole country, if not the whole world, is recovering from the surprise that was covid. in other words, I get it, they can't keep the place running more than twice a week. however, the two days they have chosen to keep it open are ridiculous and I feel like there are two ways to look at the cost. if it was open regularly and they fixed what will be my second complaint than this place would be racking in money and there would be no question that they could afford to keep it running. I also think that this city, being someone that is from Philadelphia (much more diversity in cultures as well as demographics and education levels) really needs something like this to promote education and especially stem for our children. also, something that I think is overlooked by having it open on a random weekday and one day of the weekend is that people that are trying to go there and do not regularly visit (which I would assume the majority if not all of their customers fall into this category because I don't know who could afford to visit this place every week who would want to because it's very small and would get...
Read moreI visited the Reading Science Center on a Saturday. My party consisted of 5 adults, a 6 year old, and a 16 month old. We stayed for about 2.5 hours and had a great time! The science center is all in one room, which make it easy to keep track of children who wander quickly from station to station. I also liked how the door had a bell on it, so you could easily hear if it was opened. The stations were fun and informative, without being overwhelming.
The staff were friendly and interacted with the children without being overbearing or pushy. For example the 6 year old in my party left a station more than once when a staff member was in the middle of talking to him, and they did not seem phased by that. I also noticed them interacting well with children who had special needs
We parked in the recommended parking garage and had our parking validated. My only concern was that the area does not seem to be the best. We visited the Dunkin next door and felt a little...
Read moreWe were here on Sep 30th 2023 for a free event and had an absolute blast my 2 1/2 year old got to see and experiment with electricity (batteries) and playdoh, color and explore many many unique things this small gem has to offer I would say the only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because of the location being downtown parking is a horror the event was supposed to validate my parking as stated in the post of the event and it wasnt I ended up paying a hefty fine of almost $60 after I disputed the ticket and was told it was valid even after explaining that I had signed the login sheet with my personal info and license plate at the event and while we had lots of fun we were there for only one hr which came up to about $30 each for 1 hr of fun which just was not worth it in...
