Failed me when it counted... Ski School - Zach is amazing 5 stars. The staff around the resort were a combination of students from Peru and locals - they great. - 5 stars. Guest Services and Ski Patrol - 0 stars on their PROCESS. My 40 pound daughter and husband went up to the green slope and went down the easiest path, but my daughter (being from Texas and a novice skier) was physically exhausted and couldn't make it back down. She had gotten snow in her gloves and was freezing. My husband called me and asked for help. I went down to guest services and they contacted the ski patrol. I gave them the location which apparently was "close" and they told me help was on the way. Which is what I told my husband. Help is on the way. 15 minutes later, I follow up with guest services who called Ski Patrol and SP made the decision that they would NOT go get them because they were close enough. !!!! How cruel is that to have people think help is coming and then a decision is made and NOT COMMUNICATED. Had I not stayed at guest services to advocate for my family, they would have waited longer to no avail. I told guest services, call SP back and tell them my daughter is physically incapable of making it back down. Finally, someone rescued my daughter who was not only freezing but in physical shock. My husband was able to make it back down about 15 minutes after they brought my daughter. The ski patrol person was kind, but even suggested my daughter ski down because "they were so close". Closeness is all relative and to a novice skier - it was not close. The resort needs to have a process for communication with the family when help is requested. I understand she hadn't suffered an injury and SP deals with more severe incidents, but this was not a matter of they took too long. This was a matter of them leaving them out there without telling anyone or a process to tell anyone because they didn't ask me for my name or contact information. Guest services told me they were "short staffed". Again - that's not my point. The point is they said they would help, then decided not to and didn't...

We spent Spring Break in Red River and had a good time. Lots of skiing/snow boarding with our family and eating out every night was nice. The food in the area was all good and we really liked Capo's. The only reason it was a three star is because some of the ski lift first aide team and personnel were very rude. One incident was extremely infuriating. The ski lodge employs workers from other counties that lack some communication and understanding skills. On our last day at the end of the day(of course) my wife got hurt. Riding the lift by the ski lodge to the mild slope a small child fell in the center of the lift. The crew at the top just watched the child struggle as my wife's chair approached. She was seated in the middle of three and when they exited the chair she tried to move around the fallen child. In doing so with three of them coming off the chair she fell as well. When she fell the chair actually hit her board and twisted her knee. She then pulled herself aside and made a comment to a first aide attendant, that happen to be at the top of the lift , they should have cleared the child or stopped the chairs. The attendants response was "well are you hurt." My wife kinda stunned replied they should have done something to clear the area for safety. Again the first aide responder said "are you hurt" as if your not move along. When my wife and I met up she told me the story and said her knee did hurt from the incident but the young girl was so rude she just moved on. But at most injuries go the next day tells the tell. My wife woke up the next morning in pain and for the next several weeks had to favor her leg before recovering. We are an avid outdoor and gym family and she had to lay off of many activities till her leg healed. Our family has been to six different ski towns in Colorado and New Mexico and hadn't had this kind of treatment by staff and its sad. Red River seemed like a...

I'm very big about writing reviews on my experiences rather they are good or bad. Red River Ski Area is AMAZING! I'm in my mid thirties and have never been skiing. I hate the cold, I hate the snow and I especially hate falling down! My husband who is a big skier talked me into at least trying to learn with an instructor. I gave in and agreed. The ski Instructor Bob was fantastic!! He was so patient with me and taught in a way that everything made sense. After only an hour I had the basics down!! I couldn't believe it! They have a slope where the beginners learn it's called the "Magic Carpet" It has like an escalator that you stand on and it brings you to the top of the little hill which is great, that way you don't have to deal with the ski lift as well as trying to learn to ski for the first time. It's also perfect for children! To my surprise I actually really loved skiing, I truly believe it was the staff at Red River Ski Area that made that possible for me. Everything from the rental of my ski equipment to my lesson was effortless! Everyone was soo friendly, Lenton the owner and Walt the GM was fantastic! They are so involved with the resort and making sure everyone is having fun it's really amazing! They even cheered me on as I came down the slope! I have already starting telling all my friends that I'm taking them there to learn how to ski, I believe in my heart there's NO better place to learn! I have only experienced the magic carpet hill and the bunny hill but my husband said the other slopes are awesome as well, they have something there for everyone! Thanks y'all for the experience of a life time!! I will definitely be spreading...
