People often equate luxury with price or visibility, erroneously thinking that an experience is only commensurate to the amount of money spent and the number of eyeballs staring.
However, having experienced the rental equipment delivery service from Sitzmark Sports, I can confidently say that the ultimate luxury is modestly priced and in the comfort of one's own (rented) home.
My wife and I wanted to take our children skiing for the first time. Secure in my ability to teach, my only fear was the inevitable boredom, pain, and locker room smell of ski equipment rentals with small kids in two.
Using only an online portal, we scheduled an equipment delivery to our rental home. A Sitzmark employee checked in with us 3 times to make sure we were prepared to receive them at a specific time window.
Slade strode into our living room like one of the mythological Ourea, the parthenogenetic offspring of Gaia, the personification of the mountains themselves.
With a gentle hand and a calm voice, he deftly fitted my family with ski boots, skis and helmets. When some of the equipment was not perfect, he and his partner Louie, left and returned with the correct replacements.
The entire process was so smooth, I can only compare it to cutting in line at Disney World or boarding in Group 1 on a packed flight.
My entire goal for our trip was to introduce my children to the joy of snow sports. Slade and Louie were their first impression to Red River, NM, and the primary reason why my kids were excited to go to ski the next day.
Do whatever you can to rent or purchase gear from this company. They are...
Read moreDON'T GO HERE FOR SKI RENTALS!!! We ski regularly but our family of 4 have always rented gear at the resorts we ski at. I've never (in 40 years of skiing!) had a worse rental experience. Boots breaking and being told "yeah they sometimes do that in cold weather", complaining about the fit of my boot and having them tell me, "yeah, they don't make this boot anymore. and for good reason." Telling them they completely messed up the binding angles in my wife's snowboard only to hear, "Well, sometimes you get an inexperienced staff member..." Go to the rental shop in the Lodge at the base of the mountain. Better gear and MUCH better staff.
Update: I just noticed the owner's response. I really have no idea what he's going on about. I said in my review that I complained about the boot. They were just really really crappy, and I didn't realize how much I was fighting them until a few days into our trip. And my wife told your employee she thought the bindings were setup wrong, only to be told she was incorrect. The tech at another store that fixed it said the way it was setup was non-standard. I'm sure much more experienced people would have recognized the issues right off the bat, and fixed it for you guys. Having said that, we came in TWICE to fix issues during our trip. I'm not sure what you mean by saying you wish I'd come...
Read moreCasey yes we do need to clear a few things up. I was NOT told of a non-refundable deposit at time of booking initially and YOU were not the person who booked my reservation. The vehicle I rented the Kawasaki Teryx is not comparable to a RZR as a RZR goes fast from 0-60 in a matter of seconds And has over 160 hsp and I specifically asked for a RZR because “I want(ed) something that goes fast like a RZR or comparable” those were my words. What I was told By the woman on the phone Stacy, was the Kawasaki Teryx is comparable. There was no disclosure of any sort, again YOU were never on the phone at time of initial booking and have no authorization to confirm or verify any discussion that took place at time of booking because you were not on the phone . I was never referred to another company when I asked for RZR or comparable. The Kawasaki Teryx is comparable to a mule not a RZR which is also considered a side by side ATV. Beware this is not the only review of this kind regarding this third party company nor the only review that questions the...
