This is a prime example of why monopolies are bad. They're the only steakhouse, so they assume they can do whatever they want. Everything is ridiculously overpriced and terrible. It was mostly empty when we arrived, so we were sat immediately. Our waitress took our orders promptly, but was struggling to understand them.
The appetizers came out quickly (and were just ok - mostly fried breading), as well as the soups and salads (no issues with those), but then the waiting game began. We sat waiting for our entrees for close to an hour. During this time, our waitress did not check on us or offer us any refills. In fact, the three teas got refills once without asking, and the rest of us had to ask every time.
Our table of eleven (two under the age of three) ordered eight steaks.Three were cooked incorrectly, and two sent back. The two that were sent back took fifteen minutes to be returned, and had the outside charred a bit more with the insides exactly the same. Rather than deal with sending it back again, both were picked at.
My father in law and I got the same order, the 18oz New York strip with a lobster tail added. I got the wild rice, while he got the baked potato. Instead of the rice, I ended up with a potato as well. Once I asked, the rice was brought out quickly and was actually quite tasty, however.
Both strips (as well as everyone else's steaks) were dry and unappetizing. The lobster tails were the worst I've ever seen. Tough, rubbery, and flavorless. I have never in my life not devoured any lobster I can get my hands on, but this one I only ate half of because I couldn't stomach the rest. The biggest slap in the face came with the bill, however, when we discovered each lobster tail was a whopping $42. It wouldn't have been that bad if it was actually good, but $42 for something that bad was insulting.
The bill came to $492. That was ten entrees (one a kid's meal - literally some fries and a dry chicken breast - and one chicken sandwich) and two appetizers, plus the two added on lobster tails. Ridiculously expensive, and no where near worth that price. The steaks I get at Texas Roadhouse are lightyears better than what we were served.
When my father in law went to talk to the woman at the front about our meal, they simply suggested that we should have said something sooner, ignoring the fact that we did and sent two back. We said nothing past that since they were returned in even worse condition. The waitress was apologetic, but the older woman (either the manager or owner) just grabbed the card off the counter - not offered to her - and swiped it as quick as she could. They have no concept of customer service.
All in all, it was a terrible experience. Even though we come to Red River and go to Texas Reds every year, we will never be returning. Just do yourself a favor and stay away. Better yet, buy a cheap steak from Walmart and cook it in a frying pan. You'll get the same quality for an eighth of the price.
TL;DR Service - slow, inattentive Food - insanely overpriced, terrible quality Customer service...
Read moreMy family ate there on Friday, Jan 4th. We had a large party and the manager knew we were coming and told us to have everyone there by 6:30 or she would give our table up. She also made it clear no reservations were made. Our party was there before the time and we waited about 25 mins before being seated. When I arrived there at 6:15 I was just checking in and let her know we were all present. I overlooked her tone and sharpness on how she addressed me and answered my questions. After being seated, our waitress was good and attentive. Our group probably spent well over $1000.00 that night. My only concern was that it was overpriced for the quality of steak I received. My $39 steak that I shared with my daughter, was 1/3 of fat and gristle. 1/3 of it was not eatable. After leaving the business, later that night at about 9:30 my sister received a call from the steakhouse. The same older woman who was rude when we checked in, accusing her of leaving a bad review and telling her the review was hurting her business. Let me first say, when she finally told my sister the name of the person who left the review was Kaela, we did not have a Kaela in our group. No one left a bad review, however because the woman knew my sisters phone number from her calling to set up our group she automatically accused her of making this review. Who does this? Only paranoid people I say. My sister is so sweet and would never had left a bad review but when I heard this woman called her and was talking over her rudely accusing her I was not going to stand by and allow her to bully my sister. Whoever Kaela was left her review for her reasons. I was appauled my sister received a call on her vacation by this woman attacking her verbally. This is the most expensive place to eat in Red River and after we spent the money we did my sister did not deserve to be treated in such a manner. I am posted my honest review now as a result of the actions of the lady who called my sister. I will NEVER go to this business again. I will now only eat at Sundance restaurant which by the way is voted the best restaurant in Red River many years running and is way cheaper.... Texas Reds you should be ashamed of yourself ...... rudeness...
Read moreI'm 34 years old and this was probably the worst dining experience of my life. Walked in with a party of 9 so not expecting super fast service in a steak house but after a 15 min wait we had a table so thinking not bad. Waitress took our drink order and informed us they were out of crab legs and and 2 other entrées. No problem sometime restaurants (especially in small mountain towns) run out of stuff. We received our drinks and 1 small bowl of peanuts that was half full for 9 people. Most all entrées came with dinner rolls. After 30 mins of waiting we asked for our rolls and was informed they were out of those too so we asked for more peanuts. 10 mins later asked again for more peanuts and some drink refills as everyone was empty and was never once offered refills. Finally received 2 bowl of peanuts and all our drinks minus the bar drinks (bottle beers). After the waitress came back 2 more times stating I will be right back with your beers we received them 15 mins after ordering them. This place was quite expensive and definitely isn't worth half the price for the quality of food. We got our food which was just ok but their baked potatoes came out with nothing on them. Asked for butter, cheese, and sour cream and was told we are out of cheese. Upon leaving and paying we informed the lady at the front of the service and quality and was simply asked if everything was cooked how we asked which it was for the most part (except one burger which was still bleeding) so we answered yes. She said ok I'll get your change.
Bottom line subpar food, bad service, out of basic food items, and...
