Hells yeah! We've been looking for a place like this! The food is great, and the portions are proper. Blows every other Mexican restaurant we've been to so far out of the water.
We ordered one Al pastor and one carne asada burrito, wet. Three chicken tacos soft on flour tortillas (one of my roommates is elderly, and has trouble chewing corn tortillas).. and the carne asada fries. The total was $50.28, and we tipped a few bucks. There was an extra charge for the flour tortillas, but well worth it. Usually, my elderly roommate can only eat 1 taco. She actually ate two. And they're decent sized tacos. The burritos were pretty big as well.. My other roommate usually orders 2 burritos. Both of us barely made it through half our burritos, and half the asada fries. The meat was tender, the fries were crispy, even the rice was bomb. There was a generous amount of avocado and carne asada on the fries. A lot of times restaurants get stingy with the avocado. Mi Ranchito doesn't mess around.. you want avocado? You getting avocado amigo. Best part though. The salsa we got.. oh my god.. the salsa.. I grew up living next door to a family from Michoacan, Mexico.. and we used to have contests to see who could eat the hottest peppers. I graduated to Asian peppers by 7th grade. So when I ask if they have salsa that's hot... Im not taking about jalapenos. I'm talking Naga Jalokia.
More importantly, a really good salsa isn't just hot. It should have a good flavor. Most salsas that are hot, have no flavor. We ordered over the phone and picked it up. I asked for some of the hottest salsa they had on the side. When I picked it up, they warned me a little goes a long way. When I looked in the bag and saw the little containers of orange salsa.. I knew immediately this was going to be different. You typically see 2 kinds of salsa at a Mexican restaurant. Red and green. And off to one side will be a "hot" red salsa. For the record, the hottest Mexican salsas I've ever had, were all green. But if you ever see an orange salsa.. you know that salsa isn't for the average bear. It's habanero. And it had some spice to it. But the heat isn't the focus of a good salsa. At least, not if the person making it knows what they are doing. And whoever makes the habanero salsa definitely does know what they are doing. It's sweet with a little citrus.. and the heat is a slow afterburn. The habanero salsa is some of the best I've had. No vinegar aftertaste. It's been years since the last time I had a really good salsa with a decent kick. It really paired well with the carne asada. This is our new spot. Saturday is now Mi Ranchito day .. It was a little pricier than we had planned on.. but it was a lot of food, and well worth it. It was also ready in about 15-20 minutes, everything was made exactly the way we ordered it.. everything was fresh... Far beyond...
Read moreUpdate: I still love this place, and they have one of the biggest taco salads ever, that I didn't even know about, until my roommate ordered one tonight. 👀😮🌟⭐💫✨ Absolutely excellent, super fresh, delicious food, always, and wonderful waitress and cook, as usual!! 😋🤤 I love this restaurant. They make the best cheese enchilada combo than any other in Reno / Sparks. Their green sauce is also to die for! The plate of food is huge! Fresh sliced tomatoes, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream automatically come on that combo. I have a broken jaw & their enchiladas are super soft & succulent. The new Mexican food joint across the street has nothing on this restaurant. I can't eat chips & salsa right now cuz my jaw's broken. However, here I can, cuz their chips melt in my mouth. There is no other Mexican food restaurant out there I can say this about. I've tried eating the chips and salsa at every single one of them. The chips are too hard, they will not melt in my mouth. Their salsa that comes with their chips though ... Authentic! Absolutely mouth-watering. In addition I love the waitress and the cook. This Mexican food restaurant is like the difference between eating chicken fried steak and filet mignon....
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. My family and I attended this restaurant on Thursday and decided that we'd like to go back for dinner on Friday as we were on our family trip in Reno. We were severely disappointed by their service because the waitress informed us after we had finished eating that the prices had changed from one day to the next. We were flabbergasted by this and requested to see the menu and added the check ourselves which came out to $41.50 and our bill was of $65 dollars nearly a $20 difference. I understand that there is an 18% tip difference but even with the "price change" of 50 cents per meal the outcome of our check did not add up. We left disappointed. To make matters worse we contacted the owner through the phone number we found on google and she said she'd get back to us an hour later on Saturday morning. We have yet to hear back from her. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy, unless you want cheap nasty Mexican food that will later upset your stomach. Horrible customer service and very...
