Read moreI got here all the electronics for my son rc car that we received as a gift from a friend of us. He sent us a kit and me and my son built it. It has been our first experience in the hobby. We needed a complete radio system and a few spare parts (batteries, adapters, screwdrivers, clips, paint, pinions, etc.) to complete the car so we decided to shop local so we could talk with someone that could gave us also a few tips, so we went to Hub Hobby Center. This experience gave me a double feeling for this place: on one side I found peoples who gave me great advice in choosing the right pieces to complete the car and great suggestions on the layout for placing all the components inside the car (John and Brandon), on the other side I had a wired sensation with other two sellers. The first one was at the end of his work shift and the feeling was that he was there only to sell, the second one even did a step back when I asked him to help me disabling AVC on a Spektrum radio because of a wired behavior of the car (going backwards the car turns the wheels left when I release the throttle). This thing annoyed me a lot as he didn't realized that the strange behavior was from something I both there and not from the car that we got as a gift. Fortunately I involved Brandon that was kind to support me in quickly troubleshooting AVC: well done. Now I have to contact Spektrum to understand this behavior. I had also an annoying problem with the transmitter: the scroll wheel was jumping a click, making impossible to select the correct option from certain menu and also the "e" button was not clicking (all the others do) so I didn't know if it was working properly as I didn't assign it to a function jet. I asked to swap the transmitter with one they had in home: I was told that they have to send the radio for repair to the manufacturer. I asked if they have a spare radio to use in the meanwhile (you know how can be difficult to ask a kid to stop using his new toy after less than a week because they need two to three weeks to repair the transmitter) and they said that they don't have one. We are new in this hobby, so we don't have spare parts to overcome this situation. So regarding the policy for not returning used electronics, I think they should improve a little bit. I agree that there are some as*le out there who behave incorrectly, but when someone brings back (after less than a week) a faulty radio because he has discovered a malfunction, you cannot say that you have to send the radio for repair, otherwise which is the reason to by local. I was fortunate enough that insisting a little bit and stating my points I was able to solve the problem, also with the help of Brandon stepped in understanding the situation. That said, I want to thanks John and Brandon for their great support and hope Hub Hobby Center to adopt a more flexible approach to handle this kind of situations. I will update this review based on future experience as, because of the nature of this hobby ( :- lots of spare parts), we will...
I came to hub hobby to get the Just Stock E s c motor combo they had one left in stocks I told him aka a worker that only works on weekends that I had 3s battery and asked him if that combo would work with 3s and he didn't think it would be a good to run with 3s so he got a 3s spectrum 4000kv combo of the shelf and told me that would be Comparable to the 2s just stock combo so I went with what he Recommended Even though deep down I knew I should have just went with a just stock that was in the car in the first place brang it home had to put a new bat connecter on it and put it in the car I dident even drive it and I new it wasn't anything even close to the just Stock combo that was in my car so I wanted to retern it and get what I Originally came there to get I'm trying to swap it out for what I originally wanted because I was misled And the owner stodd he would give me 60 bucks for it because because it was used. It was in the car for 30 seconds. I spun it over I knew it wasn't even closed To what was originally in there and took it out So I'm out that money Because I listen 2 1 of the employees And thought he was knowledgeable when he was saying it's comparable. To my original setup but it's nowhere near that me as a business owner. If I sell a person on something. And they aren't happy with go above and beyond to make it right. Even if it cost me money because that's just the type of person I am. I will never buy another thing from hub Hobby ever in my life just because the way I was true They do have a lot of r c stuff Don't let them sell you on anything You get what you want and stick with that Because if they say it's comparable to what you had before, I wouldn't believe it. It's pretty sad That they don't care about their customers. It's just too bad cause. Hubby lost somebody that would have bring them a lot of business. But me and my 8RC cars and 4 boats and 2 planes will take my business elsewhere to a place that will treat me right Like Kramer hobby in Albertville. At least there if they recommend something it's as close to what you originally had in there. If not better they don't sell you on a lesser product. I hope people find this useful. And find a hobby store that treats They're customers Like decent human beings. There are better hobby stores out there that treat a person right when you spend $500 on these cars. You want to be able to bring them back And get treated fairly. But it is my opinion that hub hobby Is there just to make a buck and doesn't care about...
Read moreI would say to be very cautious with this location. I had purchased a Mojave Grom from their location and when I got home, I realized that something was not correct. I went back to the store just to ask a couple of questions with the product I was greeted by a female employee in the RC section who was very rude to me and talk down to me like I was stupid. This went on for a few days after leaving my Mojave Grom at their location. I had called three days later to get an update and they had not touched it yet which was fine because for my request it was for me to pick it up and take it to another location with some more trustworthy people over at the Roseville location. The Roseville location was awesome and helped me get things streamlined to try to get it fixed. Sadly, the repair did not take, and I had to send it out to a repair location for Arma. My biggest complaint would be that the manager and multiple store employees at the Richfield location. We’re very rude to me. Talked down to me like I was stupid and made it seem like nothing was wrong with the vehicle and even got frustrated with me after I spent my hard earned money on a vehicle. They are very disrespectful people over there. I would not return to this location, even if they offered me free product be cautious who you talk to you when going to the Richfield location I would 100% say make the extra drive and go to the Roseville location as they were more understanding and patient with the issue. The surprising part to the Richfield location is after I got an email back from Arma directly after sending it to their repair shop in Illinois is that they instantly noticed that there was something wrong with the motor and the differentials and it was so bad that they replaced the device in full. I would honestly say that the Richfield location needs a lot of training and they need to be more understanding of what people spend their money on and not be so quick to judge as the Mojave Grom I bought only had about 30 seconds of playtime on it. They spent more time at the Richfield location Crashing into things and driving it up and down the walkways then I had driving it myself, but insisted that...
