I hate to leave this review, as my daughter and I had a slightly better experience here last year, but today's experience was not good AT ALL. By slightly better, I mean she did find a dress and leave with it. We planned this as a fun day for her and a couple of friends to buy their HoCo dresses. Three mothers, and we all agreed, we won't be back. To start with, the owner's mother spent the first good amount of time going over the long list of rules, which, let's be honest, OVERKILL. Then she spent the next while telling us how they are in the top ten dress shops in the state, blah, blah, blah. Finally the actual "shopping" experience started. I can honestly say, we could have left without trying anything on. Immediately the older lady started making excuses about the lack of inventory, etc. I had told them over the phone what style my daughter was looking for. There was not much to chose from. What few things there were, I could have put three of my daughter in. She wears a 00 or 0 and they had her try on things that were size 8 and even suggested that she try one on that was a size 18! Oh, and the won't use clips to help with the fit of the dress eitherš. The person that helped my daughter wasn't very helpful, but honestly, I don't think she knew what to do. There was no way I was about to blindly try to order something and guess what it would fit like, which is basically what was suggested. Every time I asked about a dress, they didn't have it. Needless to say, neither of the girls that had appointments found anything. Not one thing that they tried on even remotely fit them well. The worst came when we were solicited for tips. For what??? They were of little to no help, and we didn't buy anything. While we were waiting on a friend to check out (she saw a dress on clearance when we walked in that she wanted), we were basically "cornered" by the owner's mother. She was in disbelief that we hadn't found anything. I tried to explain that there was just literally NOTHING for them to choose from. She then just started trying to sell me on any and every dress within eyesight. Very, very pushy. She asked for suggestions on ways that they could improve the experience. My suggestion was to have better inventory. Have a couple of different sizes of the items. There is no way a girl that wears a 00 can try something on that is several sizes too big, no clips, and know what it would look like on her in the correct size. She was extremely pushy and sarcastic. She said that they just couldn't keep 20 of every dress in there. Of course, that's not what I said to begin with. We literally had to just start walking briskly out the door to get away from her. We all just could not believe the attitude and behavior. It was extremely condescending and rude. My daughter actually left in tears. Of course, the owner's mother also told us that if anyone sold any of those dresses cheaper than they did, they would let the manufacturer know, and that place would no longer be able to carry that line. I left and took my daughter to Mia Bella, no appointment necessary, and within 20 minutes, we had found the perfect dress and paid for it. The staff was very friendly and the selection was WONDERFUL. In saying all of this, this was supposed to be a fun day for the girls and moms. The experience at Angie's should be great, with all of the rules and hoopla surrounding the almighty "appointment", Angie's should be able to back it up with great customer service and a large selection. I have nothing good to say...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen we first came into Angie's, it looked like alot of fun and cool atmosphere. Boy was I wrong! Angie's mother introduced herself and went down all the rules of the store such as our time frame and how to tag the dresses my daughter wanted to try on. I asked her a question about if she could order something because we were not interested in renting. She was rude and said "oh honey we don't rent at this store." I said "good bc we will be buying". She went on and on about how they are number 5 in the state of MS and how we needed to make our decision TODAY. As we were looking around, someone was checking out and there was an in depth conversation about how the store was going label the tip as a gift card on the receipt. I thought now that's odd... So we continue to tag our dresses and our time comes up. Angie was our salesperson for the next hour. She brought my daughter only 4 of the dresses we tagged, the rest were dresses that angie thought was "the one". Then i got in trouble for taking her picture by angies mother. With all the dreadful rules she went over at the start she forgot to tell us NO PHONES OR PICTURES. The one thing i told angie is that we did not want a dress that looked similar to the ones my daughter wore in previous years. We even showed her pictures because my daughter was picking so many different styles. Still having not tried on all the dresses my daughter marked, angie brings one back and it looks almost exactly like what she wore last year! Angie was on and off her phone the entire appointment time which wasnt that big of deal until i went to zip up my daughters dress and dear ole mother stopped me - thats one of the rules too. Dont touch the dresses, let them do it. Angie did take one dress off the rack which we probably would have purchased had i not been so frustrated at this point. We just left! This place was awful and stressful and they are just rude. We will continue to shop at Belle & Beau and Faunkenberry where we have always been happy with our experience! Oh and one more point, as we were leaving, her mother hollared "do your research, if anyone sales it cheaper, let us know because they can't." Well, money is not everything. I may have had walmart shorts and an SEC tshirt on and looked like i know nothing but this isnt our first pageant and sweetheart you lost a sale. Maya Angelou said it best... "people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel." If you want to feel welcomed and have a stress free shopping experience, go ANYWHERE...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really hate to do this because a few weeks ago I actually met the owner Angie and she is absolutely phenomenal!!! I accompanied my friend while she shopped for a dress for a gala. She purchased a dress and said she would be back in a few weeks to get another dress. So on yesterday we went to the store to purchase another dress and have the same fun shopping experience. We arrived around 11. The store didnāt open until 11:30 we found out because a young lady getting out of her care informed us that they didnāt open until 11:30 and she knew because she worked there. She proceeded to walk away from the store into another store so we walked across the street into Barnes and Nobles to kill time. We went back around 12 and my friend already had a dress in mind that she tried on previously. She had taken a picture of the tag and the young lady said very swiftly that it was sold. So she handed us some hair ties and continued to sit on her phone. My friend and I looked through some dresses and we walked them to the dressing room. She was not helpful at all in that manner. My friend is trying on dresses and I ended up finding the dress we initially asked about and she was like oh well it maybe bought already Iām gonna call and see and she never let us know if it was sold or not. Needless to say my friend ended up finding a dress cause of course she has beautiful gowns. The young lady proceeded to tell her that if she paid cash it would be cheaper and it would be 30$ more if she used a credit card told her that she had to pay 15 for a garment bag. Which wasnāt a problem at all but seeing how lousy her customer service was she told her she would leave and get cash but in actuality she just didnāt like how the young lady had treated her. So my friend left the dress at the store. She is going back today to pick it up with hopes of the owner being there for a more...
