I visited this attraction on 10/13/18, I will give you the best advice on how to experience the most out this place and then write a review. DO NOT BUY TICKETS ONLINE, bring cash because they do not accept card for the tickets and go directly to the ticket booth after parking. If you are buying tickets get the RIP pass for the hayride and prison, go to the hayride because that is their most crowded attraction, then go to the prison since it is their best attraction, then do the lazer tag. I did not do the zombie run since they closed it due to mud but it seemed cool, the unkown 2.0 was a cool haunted house and the zombie experience is a definite skip unless you like getting your face painted. I really like the idea they were going for with this attraction but the management of this park was awful. On entry we were helped with parking since there are no lines and they were really good at their jobs, after we saw the ticket booth which we assumed we can skip since we pre purchased on-line, so we went to the zombie run which started at 7pm (my group got there at 645pm) and there was another run at 11pm. The park seemed like it was opening at 7 which was odd because they say they open at 6pm. My group was stopped at the entrance of the zombie run and told the attraction was closed due to the mud since it rained earlier which is understandable and we were asked if we had the tickets since upon buying them we would be verbally told what attractions were open. We had to walk back to the ticket booth which had 5 lines the longest being the internet ticket line. My group waited 20 mins to pick up our tickets and then we went to the hayride and waited an hour to get on the ride. The RIP lines went before us twice before until we had to speak to someone, I understand fully the RIP pass holders pay more to skip the line but to have another paying customer wait an hour while 80 people go before them is insane and poorly managed, after we got on the ride we had to wait 10 mins to leave and another 10 mins for the paintball guns to be fixed since 2 were down. During the hayride my girlfriend and two other passengers were stopped in by the actors, we were never warned they jump in the tractor and they run around were we sit, we never signed a waiver either to be touched but every attraction the actors could touch us. My group did the laser tag which was really fun and then the prison which is one of the best haunted houses I've been too. We paid for the zombie run but since it was closed we swapped it for the zombie experience which is just face painting. My experience was initially bad but got better through the night, this could have been avoided by updating the website and putting signs that some attractions are closed. They have a huge archway mimicking jurrasic world and they should use this to put turnstiles and metal detectors so people can be safe and know not to go into the park without a ticket. Have guests sign waivers and warn them about some potentially dangerous situations. The Internet line should always be quick since the product is already purchased. The zombie theme was cool and they have made a better experience, I can list 3 things that would make the park the #1haunted attraction in America but I will not unless they contact me. Take my advice and it will be a...
Read more. My group of 8 arrived at 7:30 we waiting in line for tickets until 8 when we reached the counter they informed us it was cash only, but it doesn't state that anywhere at the park. So we bought our tickets and then we went to Get in line for the haunted zombie hayride, we waited in line for a total of 31/2 hours for this hayride, people cutted in front and every thing else no one there monitored the line, people were punching the tents and being crazy, they had there young children who no more belonged there in the bitter cold, late at night than the man in the moon. So anyway at 3 hours we went and we inquired about a refund and we were told no refund but we could leave and return on another night, but did apologize, supposedly it was because one of the trucks got stuck. Which had to wind up being driver error because once on the hayride you could tell that there was no where to get stuck it looked like she misjudged and hit a display. So no refund. Then we get on the ride but had to sit around for about 5 minutes because the drivers couldn't count how many people there was (only could be 15 people on one side) then we got going. Boy was that a joke. The actors all were tired at this point it being 12pm were all seriously laughing and joking around with the passengers. if I wanted comedy I would of sat at home and watched youtube. we got to the zombie paintball part which you got not even 2 minutes of shooting time with a gun that went 10 feet 4 zombies that were about 30 feet away and 100 shots. It was the biggest waste of money. Then we get off the ride and go to our second paid for attraction. The best part being the bus ride which is just a bus ride. We get to the haunted prison and it looked nice. We went in with a total of 8 people, The actors inside were so tired and done with scaring that pretty much the only thing they did was jump out at you, there was only about 25-30 actors again none of them were really into it. Anyway there are tons of these metal Tunnels in there that you have to hunch over to go through well at that late of night they were wet from the dew and condensation and 4 out of our 8 people group fell and hurt themselves. With that being said our horrendous night was over. I have been to many haunted attractions and never been this disappointed. I will Continue to Post this as I've posted it in other forums and review places to show others what they are REALLLY getting into. You do not delete a bad review. I will call the better business bureau if you continue to delete my posts. This is not slander, this is a review of your establishment. I wish I could get a refund but we sat and waited through it because we were told we couldn't have one, only to learn that others have received ones for this type of service. But my mission now is to inform others before attending. I now understand why you only have positive reviews because your deleting...
Read moreMy friends and I go to these haunts every year and we’re never terribly impressed in the sense that we don’t scare easily. Most of the time we stroll brazenly through haunted houses and smile at the actors. We appreciate them, but are never made to feel scared. The hurdle to overcome is that you know the actors pose no real threat to you and so your immersion is gone.
Shocktoberfest was- in a word- incredible
We bought the RIP all access pass so we could do everything. We started our night on the hayride. It was engaging, comfortable, fast paced, but also slow? Let me explain. While the hayride doesn’t move all that slowly, the tension building up between scenes is incredible. Sometimes the truck just stops you in the dark woods and lets it be quiet. We never really knew when someone was coming at us, especially since there were so many places -even on the sets- that the actors could come from. Something across the board this haunt does very well is pace the scares. They know when to jump out and when not to. They have faux doors that look indistinguishable from the ones the actors use. Sometimes they were so still it was hard to tell what was a dummy and what was an actor.
Next we did the zombie laser tag. A blast to be sure! So much fun and a nice, tense, little break from the scares. While there are zombies roaming around that you have to shoot, you’re mostly battling your opposing team. Tactically hiding behind waist high and 7ft high cover to annihilate your opponents and having to go to respawn points as well as go to the base to reload. So much fun.
Shocktoberfest has a lot of attractions and has a lot to offer, but we ended our night in the Prison of the Dead. We had more options after this attraction, but we were so shaken by the performance and atmosphere in the prison we had to leave after because we all had chest pain and couldn’t catch our breath. I won’t spoil this but the prison of the dead in and of itself is worth every penny of admission. The actors are incredible, the maze is disorienting and employs both a crazy layout and sensory depravation- not to mention the close quarters. It was somewhere we never felt safe. I screamed, I jumped, heck I fell over in fear. It was a heart pounding and jaw dropping experience. The folks at Shocktoberfest did one hell of a job with this one. You absolutely must go to the prison of the dead if you make your way to sinking spring
Kudos Shocktoberfest team. It was well worth the 90 minute drive and $70 admission for sure. (We were paranoid about someone jumping out at us the whole way home)
ABSOLUTELY take your spooky season fun to...
