Found a cool place in Rock Hill! We went to walk through Glencairn Garden and it's very beautiful and relaxing. They have a few ponds with fish and turtles with tons of lilypads and weeping willows, which was beautiful. They also had a very cool cascading fountain, which was very nice, with benches and seat swing to help you relax and enjoy the view. People were also lying out in the sun and having picnicks. The garden itself is a pretty good size and they have tons of different plants and flowers with walkways all the way through and around the garden. We also saw a very large bird but were unsure of what type of bird it was but was very cool nonetheless. They DO have restrooms towards the back of the garden and it is wheelchair accessible. They have a kids' garden, but it is under construction, but it sounds like it will be nice when it's finished. With all that being said, in one of the creeks we were walking by we heard a frog going crazy, and when we looked we saw a small copperhead snake so you have to watch your surroundings while going through some of the paths and trails!!!! Be Careful!! Overall it's a hidden gem that some people in Rockhill don't even know about and it's worth stopping and...
Read moreI only was able to be at this garden for 20-25 minutes this first time. However, after having seen some online pictures, I was excited to immediately find the pond and the turtles that live there. My visit intention was to take some good pictures to practice my camera skills. That I succeeded in doing just with the pond, the two smaller water falls, the lily pads, the turtles especially, and some flowers near the pond. I would like to go again to explore more completely the park. Getting there was a bit tricky, as the GPS took me in a way that I would have to cross a train track that when I reached it was blocked by non-moving train cars. With limited time, I checked a map and redirected myself to another street that would get me there quickly, allowing GPS to readjust. It is in a neighborhood area and not on a main thoroughfare. However,...
Read moreIt’s a cute little park, with lots of azaleas now in bloom (March 2023)! I love that it’s dog-friendly! Our pup enjoyed her stroll and I snapped some cute pictures of her while there.
One drawback is that it’s small. We walked around the entire park in 20 minutes. If you are staying in Fort Mill, it’s a 20-minute drive for a relatively short walk at these gardens. If you are there to sit down on one of the benches or swings to enjoy the weather, or enjoy a picnic, then maybe it’s worth the drive. We went to get a walk in and exercise our pup after an entire morning of sitting in the hotel room, and felt like it was such a brief experience. Definitely go to a state park instead if you are looking to get...
