We went there at 1130 and they were closed....open at noon. So we came back around 1720. There was a couple out on the patio otherwise, the place was empty. Not one person in sight other than the customers. In fact, after approximately five minutes with no one greeting us, I asked the couple, do one of you work here? No, they said. We waited for another five minutes or longer, no one. She said look, they have reserved tables. So, I called their phone number. A cell phone sitting on one of the tables started ringing. As the voice message ended, an employee we saw last time came walking in. He had his hands full of what appeared to be waffle fires in three large plastic bags. He said hello, but nothing more. About that time, a large man came from the back and asked, can I help you? I said, we are here to drink. He said in what I would say was not a business like tone, "we are closed" and then said, there is a sign outside. Really, don't you think if I saw the sign I would be wandering around in your Hoppin? We are closed for a ticketed event from five to seven...mind you, it is now 1740 and a few folks were coming in. Why didn't I see the sign? The sign was not facing the entrance from the steps but from the ramp side. So, they are closed yet customers who are not part of the event are there, the big guy assumed we saw his sign and wondered in any way. Hoppin is a cool concept, But this left me feeling a bit pissed.
They do not serve food here....there is a food truck and a nearby restaurant you...
Read moreI would not recommend this place to anyone. I’ve been here quite a few times and it is very overpriced and they force you to tip even though you are pouring your own beer. I went here last night for the last time with my friends for our friends 21st birthday. The owner was extremely rude. My friend, whose birthday it was, got his wristband and then while I got mine, he was on my phone talking to our mutual friends on FaceTime. He had had a couple drinks, which I think is expected, considering it was his 21st birthday. When he walked through the front door, he almost fell, and the owner immediately tells all of us that he will only serve my friend (Birthday boy) One drink. He continues on to say that he is not risking his business in case something happens. My friend was only lightly drunk at this point and he has always been in complete control of his actions. Personally, I stumble and fall stone cold sober sometimes. He probably stumbled because he was focusing on talking to our friend and walking through the door. After we had been here for an hour or so, we go to leave, and one of our other friends who has a really nice car simply revs it outside the building, and the owner comes outside and tells us to leave and not come back. The whole experience really put a damper on the birthday celebration and I would not recommend...
Read moreI didn't have any food since I ate prior but next time I'll have some (great to have that option exist). I would like to say that the staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable in their drink varieties. The drink varieties, quality, and price is what make this place shine amongst the friendly staff aforementioned. This bar is a unique bar with it's self service approach, like tcby, menchies, etc, which is incredible. I love the vast amount of seating and option to purchase darts for playing. I have never been and yesterday I went for the first time. My first time was wonderful and cannot recommend it enough, places like this should exist for people to gather and have a great time. A great example of what a hangout spot should be for a great Friday night (or any off night for that matter). It's a great place to unwind and settle down for the evening, or if you want to indulge in some Cornhole outside then that's an option too. This place is about vibes and great company and I'm here for it!
Thank you to the wonderful staff yesterday and I would rate higher than 5...
