Super disappointed. Have been wanting to visit for a while, but as we moved out of Rock Hill we don’t get down this way as often. We decided to come for dinner tonight. While we understand that it was busy when we came in, most of the tables already had their food. We sat waiting for our food for over 30 mins. A larger table next to us that came in roughly 15 mins after us had their appetizers and we were still waiting on our food. When it finally came out, the bangers and mash were like warm and the chicken on the salad was dry. We asked to speak with the manager/ owner. This only made the experience worse. We tried to explain what was upsetting to us, the owner, “Murphy”, just wanted to make excuses and talk over us, ultimately walking away from our table without any apology for the experience. We will not be back, nor will we recommend this place. Had things gone better with the owner, we would have been willing to give a second chance. I have never had an experience like this in the past. I hope the owner does not treat others as we were treated. *a note to the response to this review - had the visit to the table been handled differently than it was, this review would have been much different. It was not the wait time we were most disappointed with, it was how the issue...
Read moreThis isn't Legal Remedy. The beer is still ice cold, and although there are no porters or stouts, the focus of the available beer choices compliment the food, the most important part since the tavern isn't a brewery. My family has frequented this location, lunch and dinner, since it was Legal and we have continued since it became Journeyman's. Many remaining staff have watched my daughter grow from a little. What I like about the Journeyman is the food isn't like every second or third restaurant in the area, they grew their business from the bones left behind and added their own spin while trying to make the transition palatable to locals, and the laid-back atmosphere remained, if not more so than before. The burgers are beautifully seasoned and never taste frozen, the Reuben never needs extra kraut ordered, the fish and chips were perfectly salty and crisp, the bangers and mash were rich and balanced and even the kiddo menu tenders were fresh. They've kept the pimento cheese and crisp but meaty fries. I'm usually worried about ordering shepherd's pie, but I don't think I have to worry about getting lackluster, soggy, casserole like dishes here. I've had excellent experiences since they've opened, and I can't wait to...
Read moreHorrible service There were several wait staff and not busy so the low level of service had no excuse.
We ordered a salad, among other things, and we were not asked what kind of dressing. When the food came out I asked my wife if there was any Ranch and she said no. I got the waitresses attention and asked if this salad was supposed to have any dressing. With an attitude she asked if we wanted Ranch or Balsamic (the menu said it was supposed to come with Ranch). I said Ranch and she came back and just dropped a small container of dressing and walked off. She didn't apologize or ask if we needed anything else.
Partially through our meal I had to ask the hostess, or maybe manager, for another dressing cup and more gravy for another person's meal.
At the end of our meal the waitress finally came, for the first time, and asked if everything was OK. I paid and we left. One of the people in our small group told the hostess, or manager, the service was not good.
The chicken on the salad was dry and burned and the mashed potatoes had no seasoning. At least the bangers had...
