Looking for a lowkey, affordable, and clean staycation spot in the Chicago Suburbs? Look no further! I booked the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson through @expedia and the process was nice and smooth. Between the friendly staff, cozy room and free breakfast this place is the perfect home away from home! #countryinnandsuitesbyradission #businessowner #expedia #staycation

Upon arrival, we waited over 10 minutes for someone to come to the front desk and there were already 3 other people in line. Once we finally got the room keys, we went into the room..... We opened up the refrigerator and the room that had "just been cleaned" had leftover pasta in there. I handed it to the housekeepers and they acted surprised that anything had been left in there. Shortly after, we checked out the bathroom.... perhaps the pubes that were on the toilet were a welcome to the room gift but an unwanted one.

The coffee that is "available 24 hours a day" was not there but hot water was. Perhaps if you bring your own instant coffee, it is in fact always available. The decaf was out there BUT it was empty.

The bed was super uncomfortable! I mean, Plymouth Rock might be more comfy.... Nothing about the bed was relaxing.

On to the next problem, the constant slamming of doors....people leaving at all hours and slamming the door as loud as they could. Kids running and screaming were an issue too because of the pool being close by. There are thin walls at hotels but this one was like the rest of the floor was in our room.

For almost $170 a night, you might think some part of it would be nice and while the in room hot tub helped, it definitely didn't outweigh the negative things about the place. Oh, and if you are a fan of NASCAR, you might like Room 131...if the wind blows, it sounds like you have front row seats to the event. So, between the loud wind howling, the doors slamming, the impossible night of sleep due to a bed that is like Plymouth Rock, the pubes that should have been cleaned before the room was available AND the uncleaned refrigerator, I think we'll just make it a day trip next time and save our money.

As we were leaving, I walked right by the hotel clerk and he didn't say one word to me. He made sure to acknowledge My husband, who was right behind me however. I thought that was super crappy. Much like the rest of the stay so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.

We didn't even want the free breakfast that came with the stay because we couldn't deal with more disappointment. We can recommend NOT eating there and going to Denny's....it was very nice and super good!

This 3 star hotel should be demoted to a one star hotel. It is an absolute disgrace!

Oh....and our neighbors had dogs that would NOT stop barking. That was just the "cherry on top"...it was an absolutely horrendous stay and we will not be going back to this hotel. People say never say never BUT it is safe to say, we 100% will never make that...

I've shared four photos from my four night stay at Country Inns & Suites Romeoville. My traveling partner and I were in the area to visit family and friends. Almost all of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, offering smiles and greetings. The only staff who did not smile or greet were busy with their work and didn't look up or notice us. I bathed and showered, and the water pressure was great which is a major bonus in a hotel of this type. The water temperature was great also - shower got hot within seconds, also a major bonus. My traveling partner's room was on the third floor. They are elderly, and while they reported feeling more comfortable on an upper floor, the room itself was a bit challenging for them, as ALL the seating is low - the sofa, side chair, and toilet. This made it difficult for an older person to push themself up from a chair, sofa, or the commode. My traveling partner uses an assistive mobility device and the "lip" between the hallway carpet and the room carpet was high, with straight edges which made it nearly impossible for my traveling companion to roll their device over the threshold. They needed assistance (me) each time they entered or exited their room. The bed was fine but a bit too firm for their liking. My room was on the first floor. I've shared two photos of the window lock. The windows are large, which is great for natural light but bad for only one latch style lock right in the middle. The window was not locked when I checked it, and it was clear from the scrape/rub marks that it's been an issue for a while. The latch has popped open so many times that the piece it should slide next to is dented. There is no side bar to lay into the track, so it is not a safe feeling for a traveler staying on the ground floor of a hotel just off the freeway, in a room facing the rear parking lot. I found what looks like a chewed piece of gum in the corner just under the head of the bed. The smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling, wires still appearing attached, but no way to know if it was working or not. The hotel management has some maintenance issues to check on and fix - at least in the room I was in - and some design changes to make the rooms usable and accessible to all travelers. Other than those issues this hotel is a good option for visitors to this area with all other amenities...
