Great park to take a little hike on the trail! I came looking for native plant species to collect and raise. Sadly the surrounding vegetation is mostly poison ivy and dogwood, there is quite a bit of western ironweed as well. If you go to the disc golf course and wander along the edges there, there are some wildflowers hidden away in the back. I caught glimpses of quite a few lizards, probably anoles but they moved far too fast for me to make them out. Quite a diverse array of insect life, I was particularly surprised to see the biggest tiger swallowtail I've ever seen in the hidden wildflower areas. There are however a metric ton of mosquitos along the paved path, the moist weather lately probably has not helped, a lot of them looked like aedes albopictus or aedes aegypti which prefer to feed on humans and can carry disease so make sure you wear...
Read moreI was initially going to reserve Springfield Park but the restrooms were out of order, so I was offered Pecan Grove Park instead for the same price, which was nice! They gave us the big pavilion right next to Wet Zone. There is no grill, two electrical outlets and six picnic tables. I reserved half day from 3-9pm. I did have to call the office because the pavilion lights did not turn on at sundown. They eventually went and turned them on for us around 7. I had taken some solar lights in case we needed them and sure enough, we did for the time being that they had to call the park supervisor to turn on the lights. That's the only complaint, they should have the lights come on automatically if the pavilion is being rented until 9pm. The family had a good time and kids love...
Read moreI love this park, my kids range from 2-4 yo and they both have just as much fun as the other doing age appropriate activities as mom and I divide and conquer. My oldest loves nature so we go on the trail just outside of the large fenced in playground and we will take little trails off to the side of the walkway and we would always end up back at the walkway. Very well thought out setup for young'ns I'd say ages 2-13 given all the options you have. If you go during summer, you can play until you get hot, and then you can walk right next door to the wetzone (a supervised and fenced water play place). I love this place, idk who made this park but it kicks *! P.S. the zipline will hold a 220lb adult male...several times...
