Been here forever and comfort food never changes. They are consistent and most of the help have been here for 45+ years or even longer. There is nothing on the menu I haven't tried and recommended this place to anyone driving through the area as people who live within 50 miles of the Agawarm qualify as local and betting my bottom dollar have this place listed as a must when a little road trip along route 1 for some shopping, site seeing and good comfort food seem to all go together. Looking forward to another 50+ years, congratulations Agawarm!!!! :) Update, this diner is working very hard and getting all of their regulars back, slowly but surely. I am so proud of Angela & Ethel, along with Karen, Carol, Amber, Debbie, Elaine, Jay and Mark. They really deserve so much credit for keeping this establishment open and food quality a top 10. I am sorry to see them closed on Monday and closing early afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday. But in my opinion and I do miss it with the older hours were open every day but I am glad that the staff can step back and enjoy life out side of work just a bit more. To anyone who is nervous about dining inside, they have strict rules with booths separated by a very nice cut plastic / glass to make things even safer. I have been back there for 4 months and have had no problems at all. So if you have been contemplating about going, don't think twice, the food is amazing and there safety measures are top notch. Keep the Agawarm alive and strong, they are one of the best diners on the East Coast. You will not be...
Read moreThis diner opens at 4am! Closes at I'm pretty sure 3pm. You'd think the waitresses would tell us we couldn't be served when we arrived at 2:30 not knowing they close at 3, with a smile they said of course come in, sit where you want. The menu has lots to choose from and they have specials. I had the chicken pot 🥧 pie. It was ok, would had liked the crust on top and bottom but the real mashed potatoes made up for it. My mom and husband got the American chop suey. My mom is very fussy with sauce, cooking half her life for my Italian dad I was surprised she ordered that. Well, she actually liked it! My husband liked it as well but I can't go by him bc he likes Ragu jar sauce! 😝 Before you go! If you like pie!!! Save room for dessert! They make the best pie crust I've ever had. I think the pies may change daily, blueberry is the best! With a dollop....or more of vanilla ice.cream! 😲 then a couple of turn overs to go! Yummy! Prices were also pretty good. Hope I helped! My picture! 2 days later, and I'm enjoying the last of the turnovers (raspberry) guess we'll have to...
Read moreThe Agawam Diner was the only thing that could get me out of bed early in high school. Expectations were high when I stopped at the A-D for the first time in almost 10 years and it did not disappoint.
The chicken pie (think upside down chicken pot pie with no crust over the top) is phenomenal. When I think 'comfort food' this is exactly what I have in mind. Quick & friendly service, generous portions, and great prices. Two meals and 2 fountain drinks came to $24, including 20% tip - how can you beat that?
My only regret is not trying one of the desserts that filled the display case behind the counter. The Boston cream pie practically had me drooling, but I was stuffed after our meal. Guess I'll just need to visit again!
The A-D is a traditional lunch wagon diner. If you're looking for a spacious, renovated restaurant with gourmet cuisine and a quiet environment, this is not the spot for you. If you enjoy home-style cooking and a good bang for your buck, the Agawam Diner is...
