Went on Thursday, September 1st, at 10am with my teenaged daughter. We had a great time. Steve & T.K. were great. T.K. was great at check-in with great instructions and advice. He was very energetic and appears to love what he does. Steve was on the course and offered to take pictures of us from the ground and texted it to me while I was still up in the trees.
About the course, it is single directional and increasing in difficulty. Once you complete a route, you move up to the next route or you're basically done. There are multiple starting points, and some courses (silver) have a choice of routes at the beginning. One advantage of this course is that they let you have two people on most "bridge" lines. This was great when my daughter had difficulty getting through an obstacle, as I could join her on the line. The staff was always below watching and giving advice on how to complete obstacles. The carabiners or "click-it's" are easier to use than other facilities we have gone to (e.g. TreeScapes in Vernon, NJ). It was very quick to move your carabiners along the lines.
Suggestions: Gloves: Website suggests fingerless gloves, but I found very little chance of catching my fingertips in anything with the improved "click-it's". After doing up to the silver course, I'm glad I had fingered gloves. I'm not a climber by any means, and my hands and fingers were quite exhausted. Water: They sell water bottle loops that hold the top of bottles with a carabiner to your belt or equipment. If yours is not in great condition, be ready to see that bottle drop. We had a pouch that held two bottles in a closed zipper pouch. I had no fear of that one getting bumped around. I do suggest that you position it closer to your rear though. I had it on my hip, and i had to avoid snagging it a few times. Pictures/Recording. I had an old GoPro on my head that was better than fumbling around for a phone when I was 20+ feet in the air with full growth forest beneath me. The friendly staff (like Steve) will take pictures for you on the ground. I strongly advise against pulling out your phone while on the course. Sunlight: The entire course is under the shade of the forest canopy. No need for sunglasses or sunblock. Post-activity meals: Both T.K. and Steve suggested the Black Rock Barn to eat at. It was about a 5 minute drive from FLG X. It is situated on a lake with a lot of outdoor patio and tent seating. The food was very good with a wide selection (think Applebee's or Chili's), but was higher quality than any chain. It was a perfect place to eat...

Hours: If you are an early bird, this is excellent for you. Their first reservations start at 7 AM, and I had the whole course to myself, no need to yell "CLEAR!" just zipline to zipline, and watch the deer play
Staff: Friendliest people you could probably meet. They give the vibes of those people in high school or college who everyone knew since they had a few nice interactions with them.
The Course: I did the zipline only course and loved it. Yes, going up ladders is definitely a workout, but the zip lines are plentiful and fun. Also, unlike SkyTop Lodge in PA (Went there around 4+ times), this place maintains their course.
So while at SkyTop you'd need gloves to not end up accidently cutting up your hands, this relatively new (opened in 2020) place has maintained itself. Though, with that said, the last part of the zipline only course is a jump which may give you pause. It's perfectly safe but, it will definitely push you out of your comfort zone a bit.
I should also note, I got there at 7AM, did the course by myself, only took a few breathers after climbing up the ladders, and was done around 9AM. So, it's a 2+ hour activity. Maybe more depending on who is in front of you or in your group.
Price: It's cheaper by ten dollars to SkyTop, to reserve, and if you live in Jersey, it will be even cheaper considering you don't have to pay as many tolls. I live in Central Jersey, and outside of the toll to get out of Union County into Essex - via the parkway, there were no other tolls to pay.
Public Transit Available: Yes and no. You can take the train to Mount Arlington Train Station and walk, but you'd have to walk on the side of the road (I don't recall seeing a sidewalk - and Google says it is about a half hour walk). But, considering it is three minutes by car from the station, a quick ride share is an option. Also, considering FLG X has a mainly zipline route and a adventure course (a course with ziplines and obstacles), this is probably the most accessible zip line course for people who don't have a car.
After Zipline Stuff To Do: If you're hungry, there are your usual places, like Starbucks, Dunkin', even a Walmart not too far (by car) from the place. There are also sit down restaurants if you feel like you're...
Read moreOct. 25, 2020 I just finished the ropes course and overall it was very fun. What to wear I would recommend wearing LAYERS, sweats are okay, leggings are good as long as they are not too thin !! And I would wear a sweatshirt as well! My recommendations come from being in 40-45 degree weather. Adventure Ropes Course The three of us did the adventure course which is approx 4 hours. The first three levels were easy and fun! The last two courses (red and black) are extremely hard. Only two people in our party completed the red and were in agreement that we were not going to attempt the black. The last person did attempt the red course but had to be rescued in the very beginning. The first three were great! It took us 3 hours to do 4/5 courses. Worker Guides I have absolutely no complaints about the guides and customer service. The guides were relatively young, and very helpful. They offered me many tips on the red course which was crucial to my success. This course is self lead, which I thought was great. COVID Obviously if you are COVID crazy or have underlying health issues you should stay home. But anyway, about we were outside the whole time and everyone had on masks. It was hard to social distance while we received instructions because there was about 20-25 people at that one time and everyone was eager to hear the rules and get started. Instructions lasted about 20 mins. That is the only time you are around people, outside your party, except when the guide is leading you to the next course. The course is very big and generally party’s will stay together.
More recommendations. I would not recommend for anyone to plan on listening to music during the course because your AirPods will fall out, you’ll get tangled if your headphones have wires, and you need to focus on what your doing. Definitely do not plan on doing this high or drunk because you think it will be fun. If you are under the influence you physically will not be able to do it. GLOVES!! These are very much needed!! Clip on water bottle is not necessary. I did not take time to drink it, because I wanted to...
