My kiddo and I are on a mission to visit all of the nearby playgrounds in Royal Oak. After an early visit to the Farmers Market, we headed over to see what Meininger Park had to offer.
There is no designated parking lot, as this park is located within a neighborhood. Your options are on the street and in front of houses.
The age range, per the guidelines listed on the playground, is 5 to 12 years of age. Most of the playground was easily accessible for our toddler. The most difficult aspects are the monkey bars, but overall everything else is do-able for a small child. The playground is nice and Shady.
There is a sandbox. And a Little Free Library. There are benches, picnic tables, a grill. There us also a tennis court next to the playground and a walking trail via sidewalk around the park. There were several people walking dogs and running during our hour long visit. The playground was relatively quiet. There is no restroom.
A couple of things to note: there is a broken tree at this park and abandoned toys. Some of these toys are usable, others are broken/missing parts which is unappealing. There was some litter at the park but overall this seems like...
Read moreIt's a great park for dogs to run. they need to replace the leash law signs with Karen's not allowed.. need to cover-up all the drains in the park so that in February water can freeze over and have ice between the trees and go ice skating between the trees. It's the most memorable thing I remember about Maxwell Park... 2/3 of the original trees are gone... there was a time from the road you could not see the railroad tracks because there were so many trees... still all in all Maxwell Park is hands down the best park in Royal Oak. In the southwest corner of the park where all the play toys are they need to put a large fence around the whole area and call it manager play area that's what manager contributed was all those toys in the tennis court but the rest of part has naturally beautifully been...
Read moreDogs are NO LONGER ALLOWED HERE This park use to be a lot more fun for the q The 10-16 year olds as it offered a great ice skating ⛸ rink for 🏒 and figure skating ⛸ for FREE and more of those beautiful grand oak and maple trees. They also had the calisthenics work out portions as well. As this sad to say is only one of the parks in Royal Oak that no longer has Longfellow playground nearby. It's quite A hike to get to spider spark near Maxwell Ave. Yes great for tennis 🎾 players and not so great for older kids. Babies and their Moms (dads) would like it. Until their children are...
