I recently had the opportunity to visit Kouzina restaurant, and while I have generally had positive experiences there, my most recent visit left me disappointed. My family and I embarked on a two-hour drive to indulge in their delicious Greek-oriented cuisine, as we have done in the past. Being Greek American, finding authentic Greek food is always a delight, and Kouzina has consistently delivered in that aspect, particularly with their mouthwatering gyros.
However, upon our arrival on a Tuesday evening, we were disheartened to find the restaurant closed. It was quite perplexing and frustrating, considering we had made the considerable effort to make the trip specifically for a meal at Kouzina. It would have been immensely helpful if their hours of operation were updated and clearly displayed on their website or social media platforms.
Nonetheless, I want to emphasize that our previous experiences at Kouzina have been nothing short of delightful. The warm and inviting ambiance, coupled with the friendly and attentive staff, always made us feel welcome. The menu boasts a delectable selection of traditional Greek dishes, prepared with care and authentic flavors. Their gyros, in particular, have consistently impressed me with their taste and quality, reminiscent of the gyros I have enjoyed in Greece.
Despite this recent hiccup, I am hopeful that Kouzina restaurant will take the feedback into consideration and update their hours of operation to ensure that future patrons do not encounter similar...
Read moreKouZina was a nice little modern Greek Street side pickup cafe. The food is limited in selection, almost like a Chipotle or Moe's but for Greek food. It's actually a good setup (basically just pita, gyros, fries and salad...oh and some desserts) but the options in toppings are pretty expansive. Food is typically made pretty quickly (even though the website says 40 minutes by default...lol).
Ordering through the website is fast and easy. Although I'd you do it by mobile device, it's a bit finicky, requiring a whole page refresh if you accidentally select something you don't want.
They have a nice patio eating area in the back, indoor seating at booths and tables inside and even some street side, sidewalk tables for people watching.
Now the food. The flavors are quite delicious whether you get a salad, gyro or spinach pie. The meat is also well flavored and the fries are AWESOME. Get them with feta. It blends beautifully with the seasoning. The veggies were a little bit cool, as though they had been in the fridge for a bit but they tasted fresh enough. The gryo pita is quite good and not too dry. The meat is well prepared as well. The only disappointing items were the baclava and other phyllo based items. They definitely had been in the fridge too long. Flavor wasn't bad but the consistency kind of ruined it. Maybe we got an older batch. From what other reviewers say, they should be decent.
All and all, they're a good setup and a nice place to grab a quick...
Read moreI saw that other reviews described KouZina as the "Greek Chipotle", and even though that's simplifying it a lot, it's a great description! Stopped by the restaurant on a Sunday night, not really knowing what to expect other than that it was recommended by various friends.
The Sunday night crowd is pretty minimal at KouZina, and though there were other customers in the restaurant, we still had tons of time to look at/ become familiar with the choices on the menu, and our pick of seating options. I'd say that there's about as much seating inside as you'd expect to find at an average Chipotle, too.
The staff was super helpful in making suggestions for what to order as it'd been my first time. They were also very patient as I was making off the cuff decisions on what to put in my bowl. There's something for everyone here, as there's plenty of choices available. Everyone in the restaurant was super friendly and made the experience really positive.
Keto /Low Carb Folks: You'll have no trouble finding options here, they're really accomodating and will make a Gyro Bowl with a light lettuce base (if you're salad averse, like me). I ordered the Gyro Bowl with all 3 meat options, and I was stuffed by the end of it.
Overall, very positive experience, at a great price, and made quickly. If you're getting tired of the standard Chipotle experience, and want to branch out to something different but still comfortable,...
