I've never had such a bad customer service experience as I've had at the Rutland Wal-Mart! The worst part is it was by the manager, Jeremy Bolland, and the assistant manager, Jake. I do a lot of shopping there, or did, I will never patronize this store again. The cashiers have always been pleasant, but the service desk up needs an incredible amount of training on customer support. No surprise, as their manager's don't have the skills to maintain a good model. I bought a $50 gift card there 3 days ago and wanted to return it , not for cash but as credit on my credit card that I had paid for it with. I had my receipt and would even had taken a store credit, where I would still have spent it at Walmart. I was told that their policy is that gift cards are non-refundable.I checked the display of gift cards, no notice that they are non refundable! I picked up the laminated sheet at the Service Desk stating the store's Return Policy. Gift Cards for prepaid phone minutes and online video games are listed as exceptios and ARE non refundable, but NO mention of any other kind! The woman at the Service Desk was very rude and dismissed us when it was pointed out that the policy did not state gift cards as non refundable! How dare they treat paying customers like this! I spent many years in customer service and would have never spoken to a customer in such a manner, I wouldn't have had a job. Nor would I allowed any of my employees to do so once I was in a management position! Obviously, they have been shown by Mr Bolland that this behavior is tolerated! I DID call the corporate support line, and today received a call from the manager of another VT store. The corporate office had mistakenly sent the report to the wrong store. She was very nice and even after we determined that it wasn't her store, she was apologetic for how we had been treated by the staff at the Rutland store. She was sending the poor service report back to corporate where they were going to see that it was emailed to the correct store. She told me that gift card returns are up to the store manager's discretion. She suggested that I return to the store, tell them that she explained it to me, and for them to call her if there was still a problem with them creding my credit card. It's part of customer Goodwill to do so.We were told that it's not their concern what another manager does, and would not even admit that it is to their discretion, insisting that it is Walmart's policy. The Rutland store's manager is a disgrace to the service industry. In this day and age, there are way to many other stores that will provide GOOD customer service and I will now be shopping at them, not this store! They don't usually have what I looking for anyway, and I wind up with an alternate product. Me Bolland's inventory skills must be as rotten as his managerial skills!...
Read moreI didn't like much, they don't have a big selection....the employees are always very helpful n mostly pleasant but they really need 2 expand the store if they want 2 stay in business for awhile! They should upgrade to the super enter walmart, as I live about 5minutes from rutland, vt but I will travel over to Claremont, NH before I go 2 this 1.....just very small and not much of a selection, Claremont Newhampshire's walmart is a super center and they are HUGE and even have their own dunkin donuts, hair salon, body shop/ mechanics, bakery, and a very wide variety of clothing and shoes!! U guys should just really look into an update for the super center, I think u will come 2 find u will get a lot more business and customers....this is rutland and it's supposed 2 be big...u would just figure they would have a walmart super center, I was honestly surprised when I move here n saw the walmart!! N I'm sure I am not the only 1 that feels this way......I mean look at the mall, they used 2 b alright and now it has just faded away 2 nothing...it's pretty much empty, not even a mall...or well a sad excuse for a mall that's 4 sure! Rutland could really use a walmart super center....I hope that the owner really looks at these reviews n puts it into consideration cuz I haven't seen very great reviews on this walmart at all!! They are in desperate need of an upgrade....listen 2 your customers cuz isn't that what really matters?? That's where your going to get your money, you could make so much more money and customers just by an upgrade! I think the owners should definitely...
Read moreThe employees are miserable here most of the time! And extremely rude!! I try to use self scan anytime I can, to avoid dealing with rude employees that act like you're burdening them. Also, heaven forbid you need to get help from someone... good luck finding the right person. You can ask someone, they'll tell you they'll go get someone, and just disappear. Another thing that's ridiculous is returns! I've been told they "don't take any returns" bc of COVID19... but it was a bicycle and I needed the money to get a new one (bc that one came with broken chain & no brakes).. and I got 18 different stories from 3 different people in the store, and 2 more people on the phone told me different things. It was a nightmare! And that's like that EVERY TIME I try and make a return, especially an online order return.... forget that! I've flat out just eaten over 120$ in last 6 months just due to the fact I can't handle the stress of trying to return things. Sad, bc its my local store (actually, basically the ONLY store in my town) which really sucks!
The products are good, most of the time... just the employees & the store itself is...
