Looking for a local restaurant that could accommodate my particular Whole Food Plant Based (WFPB) no oil eating habit, my daughter hit upon Masala Corner in the heart of downtown Rutland. It being a typical Rutland Saturday night, we had our choice of street parking and chose a convenient spot opposite the restaurant. Walking into the vacant establishment (it was 5pm and they had just opened), we were greeted cordially and shown to a high top in the dine-in section (see photo). After the waiter identified which dishes could be made WFPB and oil free, my daughter ordered the Fish Curry with a side of garlic naan bread, and I opted for the Broccoli Masala. The fish turned out to be a generous portion of salmon sunk in a pungent curry sauce, which my daughter said was delicious. My meal was delectable as well--I spooned it enthusiastically onto an ample bed of basmati rice--luscious looking broccoli florets, potato cubes, and tomato chunks. The vegetables were fresh and neither over nor under-cooked. A delicately flavorful seasoning bobbed to the surface to tickle my taste buds. We enjoyed our meal, the background music, and this welcoming slice of India on a downtown Rutland street corner. I look forward to a return visit to try the red lentil dish. (Fast forward several weeks): Having returned to Masala Corner with my other two daughters on separate occasions, I've since tried the chickpea and lentil dishes, and they were as superb as my first meal!

I recently dined at an Indian restaurant in Rutland City, and the experience was truly delightful. The restaurant's ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the stage for a memorable meal. First, I must commend the chicken korma and butter chicken dishes. The chicken korma was rich and creamy, with a perfect balance of spices that left my taste buds tingling with joy. The butter chicken was equally outstanding, with tender pieces of chicken in a velvety tomato-based sauce that was bursting with flavor. The mango lassi served at this restaurant deserves special mention. It was the perfect combination of sweet and tangy, and its refreshing taste complemented the spiciness of the dishes perfectly. It was undoubtedly the best mango lassi I've had in a long time. What truly set this restaurant apart, however, was the amazing customer service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. They were knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations, making us feel valued and well taken care of throughout the meal. In summary, this Indian restaurant in Rutland City not only serves delicious and authentic Indian cuisine but also offers a memorable dining experience. From the mouthwatering chicken dishes to the heavenly mango lassi and exceptional customer service, it's a must-visit for anyone craving Indian flavors in the area.

Masala Corner is a great place to get Indian food in the Rutland area. We came near the holidays on a quiet night and the service was good. My favorite dish was the fish curry, which had nice flavor and the salmon was perfect. The paratha was delicious, one of the better ones ive had at indian places. For the appetizers, both the samosas and onion bhajia were pretty standard. The mango lassi was standard as well, though the saffron lassi was nice. They also do sweet and salted lassi. The biryani was not the best ever but pretty good. The saag aloo was probably my least favorite—it didnt have the nice flavors of saag aloo dishes ive had in the past, and was strikingly shiny green. The chicken tikka was pretty decent, it was nice with the naan. The location and ambiance are enjoyable, and the service was good.

Day starts out nice they direct us to a table that is cleaned off I ask the table that wasn’t cleaned for the view they cleaned it. Just get us in the nice view we wanted I thank him for that. I ask for water my mom asks for menus. After going to the stinky bathroom which is not there fault but would be nice to put an air freshener in there . I get back to my table order 3 things for myself and 2 things for my mother which flew all the way from alanta to come see me. We eat out food after I love the tomato soap it reminds me of when I was a kid. All the the food I received was good. I thought the chicken was a little small but it tasted great. Once my mom gets her soup she realizes there seems to be no lentils or they are just very fine. I try it it just taste like weird oil to me so I told my mom no not for me. I continue to enjoy the great food I order for myself while my mom ask to “replace” the food because she didn’t like the food. He said ok and got the same tomato soap I did. Now where happy with our service for them replacing the food. My mom notices that they added they charge to the food after asking for a replacement they kindly understood and change the order. This ruined the day for me. The owner comes up to the table before I was about to tip him for the service and clean table and says “this is the second time we have had a problem if your going to not be normal customers I don’t want you” me I mom where shocked by the comment I respond with that was rude. He continues to bring up my past experience with his restaurant where I thought I didn’t have enough money and asked him if I could leave my id here I’ll be back to pay. Long story short on that I had the money just didn’t realize it so my fault but I paid him that day and with a tip. To bring up in front of my mother which had nothing to do with her is rude. People make mistakes to go out of your way and call use not normal customers also rude my mom is not happy at this point and tells him I’m going to write a review. Which she did and he responded saying we came in there to antagonize him from the beginning. When my mom paying the last bit of her money to come here and see me the only reason I came in there because I look to eat healthy and I’ll you had good options. Please do not be rude to your customers we all make mistakes my friends. I forgive it but not cool do better if you apologies to us I will be glad to come back until such time enjoy your day. Thank you for the service

FYI me and my mother have both worked in the food industry me as a dishwasher and cold side and my mother as many position to dishwasher to...

Stopped by for lunch today. Ordered from the counter but was offered the dining room for seating if I wanted. Yes please! Took the window seat and my food was delivered shortly after. Two types of curry, garlic naan a lassi and the big bottle of water with a glass. Cloth napkins and silverware.

The portions are just right for lunch, no need to take home leftovers and wonderful to have two types rather than one bigger portion of just one.

Stayed to do my homework - studying Hamlet - bought a copy at Phoenix Book Store acrid the street- while enjoying the mix of sun and rain and people strolling by as the nearby farmers market finished up.

Stayed to continue studying and was brought signature spice tea and the most amazing coconut biscuits (cookies) paired with chocolate (a gift from the book store for Halloween.)

Free and ample parking nearby.

Bathroom is clean and welcoming. Restaurant is definitely family friendly and single diner friendly.

Family run. Talked to both owners while there.

This is the second time I've eaten here this fall and the hospitality and food is consistent.

I've had the good fortune to eat in fine restaurants around the world and consider this one as one of the best. It's like eating at your best friend's house where their parents are shooting on you but not hovering.

When I left I realized that there's a wonderful view of the restaurant right out the front door.

I love this place. It makes up for all of the noisy, rushed, overpriced, crowded and slow restaurants I've experienced in Burlington recently.

I've only been in Rutland for a week but it's full of kind, real, people. There's not a lot of traffic, no long lines at establishments, no lack of customer service, no lack of police funding or community minded presence, no lack of Civic events, lots of culture, nature, outdoor sports, and arts and an educated, diverse and peaceful population.

Glad too have been displaced here to Rutland and happier that I didn't prejudice or is be eating...

What an incredible surprise to find authentic, delicious Indian cuisine in downtown Rutland. I recently relocated from a tropical city with diverse cuisine and was so happy to spot this restaurant driving down Merchants Row. I was delightfully surprised at the quality of the food and service! The restaurant is in an elegant Rutland building with high ceilings, the peak sky windows above the rear half of the restaurant. Parking was a breeze at Walmart Plaza and crossing light to Masala Corner.

The chef is incredible, flavors rich with true Indian seasonings, as she makes all dishes from scratch and made to order. Multiple spice levels can be accommodated for most dishes.

Nervous to try Indian food for the first time? No problem! They are launching a lunch buffet soon. Better yet, go with a few friends and order family style. Everyone tries everything!

This is sure to be one of my favorite places for lunch and dinner. Easy take out for local businesses, large or individual orders, for lunch or to feed the family for dinner.

I am vegan and found many options to choose from. My friends don’t have any dietary restrictions and they had the most difficult time choosing what to order. Hahahahah.

I really love this place. Went with a couple women friends and we all got different apps, entrees and even desert!

** After reading a review below about a woman who has a severe tree nut allergy… I had to make an edit to my review. We are adults. If you have a dietary restriction or ALLERGIES it is YOUR (I want to yell here) responsibility to communicate with the staff. Then the staff can communicate if accommodations or recommendations can be made. Providing a 2 star rating because a grown adult wants to have people read her mind or disclose the actual recipe on every food item is wild to me. She must not...
