It’s with a heavy heart that I write this review. The only reason I’m giving 2 starts is for the poor girl that had to sing in a smoke filled small space. We had a less than satisfactory experience at the singer song writer evening this past Tuesday. Upon walking in the place was full of smoke, I can deal with that however it was so strong I wish they opened the front door to air it out because my eyes and lungs were overwhelmed with smoke. The food took a long time to come out. When the “apps” did they were mushy and cold, 30 minutes later the ravioli came out and was cold. If I’m going to spend $35 per person the food should be hot and you shouldn’t be reacting to smoke in the restaurant. The reason your establishment was so smoky is because you don’t have a proper hood and ansul system. Peter needs more help on events like this, he can’t do it all him self however there were other people there that he could have asked to help him. I’m embarrassed I brought my family here that night. They had never been there And I have loved the place anytime I’ve been before. You need to look at this a bit more before you trap people into $35 per head and deliver cold food and less than par food plus a smoke filled restaurant. I work and grew up in a restaurant and I’m embarrassed by what I invited my parents to dinner for. $228 bucks. I won’t be back unless you fix it and you really need to. That hood and “ansul system “ is non exiting. Also you couldn’t hear a word of what your singer was saying. Do it right or don’t do it at all. As a local that came out to support you, Please look into this and try to do better. These events are important to the community and...
Read moreThe food isn’t terrible. The menu is a bit limited and it was well executed, if a bit plain. The biggest issue is the service, and the atmosphere…as in the literal air. The dining room became incredibly smoky during our dinner, and it was a huge turn off. I wanted to ignore it but it started burning my throat and tightening my chest, and by the last third of our dinner I was definitely wishing I had gone outside or chosen a different place. Even that I could kind of forgive but when I asked the waiter If everything was ok in the kitchen, since it was so smoky, and his response was extremely dismissive and even a bit rude. Apparently the hood in the kitchen is the wrong size so it is ALWAYS smoky in the dining area, and progressively more so through the evening. As someone with lung concerns, I would have liked to know this while being seated, and the very least wish he would have apologized for the way it impacted our dining experience. If the service had been good, 3 stars. As it is, I just can’t justify any more than 2. I’d recommend Roots if you’re in the area instead, as it’s very close by and has a much more expansive, unique menu, and very polite,...
Read moreWe’re only in the area once or twice a year, but this has been on the list for a while. We’re so glad we went!!! We went within a half hour of opening because we were on a time constraint and we heard so many great things that we wanted to take our time. Unfortunately the menu was down (online only) for the first 30 min but the knowledgeable staff quickly helped us find exactly what we wanted to drink (a top shelf whiskey and a glass of red wine). The menu issue was resolved in short order and we order food— bar olives, meatballs, baked Brie, vegetable flat bread and the steak. The bar olives were yummy! The meatballs were perfect- moist but meaty in a fresh, no frills tomato sauce. Exactly what you want to highlight the meat ball. The baked Brie was perfect but then that’s my favorite cheese, soooo no complaints… I didn’t get a taste of the flat bread so you know it must be good and the steak was so delicious I almost didn’t share despite all my promises to and my stomach was so full from all the other food! We will definitely be returning when we’re back in the area! Thank you,...
