If I could rate this store lower, I would. I came in 9-16-24 to buy a GameStop Refurbished PS5 controller.
Adrian, the guy that checked me out, was fine.
The controller, was not, and naturally I didn't pay extra for an extended warranty because for the $20 extra that it would have cost, I'd just get a new one.
I got home that evening to hook it up, nothing worked. Bluetooth was unresponsive, looked up fixes online, nothing helped.
The only way I could get the controller to register was to turn off the Bluetooth, which makes a wireless controller kinda useless. It's fine, I have 7 days to return it, I'll just do it tomorrow.
9-17-24, I make it back to the store 15 minutes to close, cutting it close, but I made it. Get inside and explain the situation to Gaige, the worker tonight.
Apparently nothing would scan, which he told me he told the previous guy as well, but he bought something before me so I don't know how it applies to this. He refused to call his manager for help and said, "he's not on shift" to which I said, "that's crazy because I thought store managers were salary. He does run the store right?"
His next excuse was "sometimes the registers just shut down before close" and he said his manager knew about it, which if true, sounds like a problem for corporate because it sounds like you all are losing out on sales.
Regardless, that's not how customer service works. You find a way to help your customer. There's a reason your brand is dying out. Why would I return to this?
I'm 2 days out of my 7 to return this thing now, and getting more...

Called the store and was told slightly rudely that all used and refurbished systems must be bought online and picked up at the store due to covid and them needing to be sterilized. The website says the location is out of stock of every system and will not even allow any to be added to cart, which means we can't even order one to be shipped there like he suggested.
The final result was a video game business that cannot sell us a system, that advertises a deal we cannot even take advantage of. Gamestop, you just need to join blockbuster in our memories, you've fallen so far that we can't even buy a system from you anymore. We'll take our business anywhere but to you in the future.
A game store you can't buy a system from, ...
Read moreThis was my first time stepping into a GameStop in years. It's a different store than it used to be, but I don't know that that is such a bad thing. They had a lot of collectibles and pop culture stuff with a much smaller emphasis on the actual games. There's nothing wrong with this, it's just interesting to see the direction they're taking.
The man inside was very friendly and it was an overall good experience. I do have to say that the store is tiny. You'll find more collectibles at the fantasy shop down sidewalk. I have no reason to take off stars, but I wouldn't recommend this location unless you really need to buy a physical copy of a game or you need emergency equipment, and you live...
