Spent one morning researching for a new nail place. I was excited to try coming here until I was later filled with disappointment. The atmosphere was very nice and clean. I got a full set of acrylic nails and a pedicure. Every single one of my nails are crooked, they are filed slanted. By the time I drove the 20 minutes home my nails were already chipping and looked dirty. I specifically asked for two coats of bubble bath and one coat of funny bunny and the nail technician did it on my toes but then told me he wouldn’t do bubble bath on my hands and only funny bunny “because it looked better”. He then proceeded to do as he wanted instead of what I asked multiple times for. I expressed many times exactly what I wanted and that I wanted my toes and hands to match. After proceeding to tell me okay, they did not match at all. I will never understand paying for a service to have the technician tell you that he won’t do the color you’re asking for just because he doesn’t like it. However, I do understand people have off days but doing different than asked is unacceptable. Very frustrating situation especially when you come on your only free day. Definitely a waste of $120 and over two hours of my life. Dealt with it because I had no choice and was not spending another penny or minute there for mistakes that should’ve never even happened in the...
Read moreAJ nails has multiple locations, but I like going to this one by Kroger on Marter because it is usually less busy. I LOVE this place. I have gone to many other Asian family nail places, and most of them have cheap prices for cheap work. The prices at AJ are down right reasonable if not more towards cheaper, depending on what you get. I haven't received a pedicure yet, only full sets. But every time i go all the workers are nice, friendly and amazing at their jobs! At other cheap places, I'm lucky if my nails lasted 2 weeks without a break or starting to separate. At AJ my nails can last up to a month or more, never breaking and very little separating, that's even without a fill or anything!!! The salon is always nice and clean as well. What i was really amazed with was last time i got a set of pink and white (instead of just full with nail polish) and they don't do normal acrylic then polish to separate the white and pink, they actually use white acrylic and pink acrylic. Warning it does take more time (1 hour +) and more money (about $50) but quality is superb and the end result is so much nicer then other cheap nail places that "fake" the pink and white. I will always go here and recommend this place. Warning: Bring cash for tips! They only take cards for...
Read moreUnfortunately, I had a terrible experience. I usually go to the location in Grosse Pointe Woods but due to a long wait we decided to try this location.
The first tech that worked on me was decent but it was clear that she was slow and inexperienced. She then started my manicure but switched with an older gentleman who completely rushed my manicure.
He was rough while clipping my cuticles, didn’t files evenly, rushed the shellac polish to the point that one hand did not cure properly and looks dull and chips in less than 24 hours, and then to top it off he left polish all over my fingers. He smiled and asked me how I wanted to pay. I was really disappointed with this service and will have to get my nails polished elsewhere. . . . I am happy to update my review. After I posted this review, I received a call from the owner, Sam. He was very apologetic and wanted to correct the situation. He arranged for me to return to the St Clair shores location to have my nails redone by Vi. Pleased to say that Vi provided excellent service. She was attentive, detailed, and precise. Not only was my manicure redone, but it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. I received about call from Sam to make sure that I was happy. The customer service...
