Mears Park used to be nice. However, now it is overrun with homeless people. Homeless people seem to be inhabiting the park. It feels unsafe and I wouldn't walk into there at night. I've taught some Fitness classes in the park 4 the Saint Paul Fitness in the Parks program. The homeless people interrupted the classes. They tried to join some of the classes. One participant got a water bottle stolen. All of the participants thought the situation was awkward so we stopped teaching classes in the park. We've continuously complained to the city of Saint Paul police department but they say they can't do anything. They said they can't kick anyone out on the basis of class. There are needles laying around, people smoking meth in broad daylight and the police will not do...

In the summertime it hosts throngs of revelers for distinct festivities - it is often at capacity and attracts locals and visitors. It is a regular spot for pet owners to walk their critters and is generally a place to lounge and take in a sliver of nature. In the year 2020 - like most places it was a quiet reminder to thin crowds and keep your distance. In the pictures I took in my profile you’ll notice the nice touch provided by the festive lighting in what is otherwise a somber and...
