Came here because I saw all of their photos on Instagram of the cool bikes they'd built. Figured I'd finally found a place to take my custom Peugeot single speed I'd put together to make some final upgrades. I needed a new bottom bracket and crank to be sized to the bike, plus the rear tire needed to be trued. They'd make sure I had parts that fit and then I would install them myself once I had completed some other work.

BB was ordered was fine, the crank was a silver blue color that completely clashed with my all-orange bike, and they couldn't true the new tire but hooked me up with a different one... That was completely different and didn't match at all. It would have been nice to have been told over the phone that the used wheel was not a remotely close match to the vintage 70s one I had.

Later (bike sat for almost a year after getting it back due to an injury) I realized by brakes hadn't been hooked back up (they had to be disconnected to remove the rear wheel), and my existing chain wasn't long enough for the new parts. If I'm coming in to make sure I have what I need in the correct size for the single speed conversion, sending me home without letting me know my chain is too short means I need to make the 40 mile round-trip drive from Stillwater yet again.

I trusted them with my bike both mechanically and aesthetically and was let down on both fronts. I shouldn't have to take time out of my day to drive all the way back for work and parts that should have been handled correctly...

This is my first EVER review I have posted online. Little background I’ve been a salesman for over 10 years and all good salespeople LOVE to be sold. With everything going right now with Covina-19 I decided I need to buy a bike to live a healthier lifestyle while all the gyms are closed. I haven’t purchased a bike since a teenager so I was expecting to pay $200 for a bike. Boy was I wrong! I called around to a couple bike shops and was lucky enough to have CRYSTAL answer the phone . Off the bat she was warm welcoming and inviting. I stopped in 2 weeks ago to look around and when I tell you her product knowledge and passion for biking was through the roof! I didn’t buy the first day cause I needed to think about it and do some research. She helped me realize that this was an investment into my health and long term would save me money due to money saving (transportation back and fourth to work) I pulled the trigger today and I’m super happy with my investment! Crystal is amazing I will not spend my money with anyone else other than her when it comes to bikes. I hope she is being compensated properly cause when this is all over I’m going to attempt to steal her and add her to my sales team! Thank you...

I've been there a few times, the 1st service was great they fixed my pedal, but the following summer my back tire was giving me issues. I asked them to tune it, and true the tires, and even asked two employees to note the issue with the tire and let me know if they noticed anything. They trued the tires and my bike felt great for about a week. I brought it back, claiming the issue was still there - I was scolded by one of the employees for having a low-end tire (gee thanks), and was accused of not filling the tired with enough air (not accurate), then they called and said they found the problem; 2 spokes had broken and if a . 3rd one breaks a new tire will be necessary. Without asking my preference, they replaced two of the spokes and charged for them. I would have much rather purchased a new tire esp. as not a 3rd spoke is broken and I find myself in the same situation. What frustrates me is that I could have saved a lot of time if they would have simply taken a moment to listen to my concern regarding the tire from the get-go. Too bad, because their prices seem reasonable, but they don't take the time to really listen to their clients - at least...

This is a wonderful bike shop owned by kind-hearted, hardworking folks. They took my Miyata 610 touring bike and helped make it absolutely fabulous. I love my bike, every time I ride it, I am reminded of the careful selection of appropriate parts for a 36 year old bike. They did a great job with my bar-wrap and they made sure my bike fit me well. The friendly atmosphere is complete with faithful American Bulldog (what a sweetie). Crystal and her husband have a good working relationship and give jobs to folks who need a place to start from. I have to say, it’s super fun to bring your bike to the Union Depot. You can step off the train and get your bike fixed, stop for lunch in the grand hall, and visit with great bike people. There’s a good mix of old and new and used. Trust Crystal to help fit your bike to you and you to a new or used bike. Great selection of parts and willingness to make sure you can get what you need when you need it. Positive and affirming culture, no matter who you are. Trust Lowertown Bike for all your bike needs!

Lowertown Bike Shop sets the standard for how a bike shop should operate. The owners and staff are warm and inviting, and their inventory is curated with brands that they stand by. It's clear that they care deeply about the work that they do, so you can trust that they're not going to try to upsell you some shiny, expensive boiler-plate bike just to make a few extra bucks. I worked with them to build a custom commuter bike, and they blew my expectations away at every step of the process. They took the time to get to know me and my needs as a cyclist so they could build the perfect machine - and they did! They would call me during the building process to give me updates, and I could tell that they had a genuine passion for working on it and bringing it to life. This bike is now my primary mode of transportation, and it means so much to know that it was built by people who care. I don't think I could with clear conscience recommend any other bike shop. If you want a bike shop for life, this is where you go. Plain and simple.

I’ve been here a few times in the last few weeks with my girlfriend, needing different parts for my bike. The salesperson was very helpful and kind and explained things clearly. They have a good selection of parts and bikes. My girlfriend was able to get a bike within her budget which was fantastic. Most other bikes shops only sell high cost new bikes, which makes it hard for newer cyclists or people buying their first bike to get into it, without breaking the bank. This business is also a non-profit which is awesome. They invest back into the community through affordable bike and recycling of parts. They also serve coffee, which is awesome, because what kind of cyclist doesn’t drink coffee?? I will be coming back and recommending this place to all my friends! Most importantly they have a cute dog in the store.
