We came here with the promise of some great Coneys, and we were not disappointed. Yeah the place is a bit of a dive, but that definitely adds to the charm. The apps we had (fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks) were delicious, but those Coneys... OH MY GOD!!! Absolutely delicious! I had 2 but I could've easily downed 2 more. So good, and what was especially impressive that every one of the 5 total that we had looked exactly the same. The consistency of the cook is often overlooked at other places, but not here. Top notch! Also, our bartender Jade (sp?) was super friendly and always on top of anything we needed. Very funny too. A little bit of humorous commentary made for an even better experience. As I said, the Coneys are to die for, but I would also recommend the Reuben egg roll. I got one after I was finished with the dogs, and it was absolutely amazing! Gopher Bar is definitely the place to check out if you are a Coney Dog fan. And if you're not, there's plenty of other options to try that all looked incredible when I scanned the menu. Also, and this is yet another reason to choose The Gopher, the prices are very cheap. I wouldn't have expected to get full for under $20 anywhere these days, but they certainly did it! I'm actually getting hungry again just typing this! 😅 FYI, cash only. They do have an ATM though. 👍

My friends had told me I have to try the coneys at the Gopher Bar. I’m in St. Paul like never, so I have never got to go. I tried to go in July, but they were closed. And with their limited hours, it makes it tough. I was finally in the area on a Saturday night, and hungry. I stopped in and it was well lit with plenty of seating. Fun, friendly atmosphere with a great wait staff. Fast service for a Saturday evening after 10pm. Got the drinks quickly, got the food quickly. Great service. I might go back just for the service. I got the deep fried ravioli as an appetizer. Kind of like pizza rolls. They were delicious. I’d get them again for sure. I also finally got to try the coneys. While they are expensive at $4 apiece, they are delicious. Served hot with a mountain of onions and on special toasted buns specifically for these coneys, it was a great experience. The only knock on the coneys is they don’t come with mustard on them which was odd. I knew they were missing something. I added the mustard and they were great. The dogs have a great “snap” to them when you bite them as they should. I will definitely be back. Best coney’s in the metro that I’ve found. And I’ve tried a LOT of places. Just be warned, parking in ST. Paul can be a nightmare and the Gopher Bar only takes cash. Thanks for the great meal!

I went here years and years ago with a girlfriend and I was pretty drunk but I remember getting the coney dogs and I was obsessed! I’ve thought about those hot dogs for the past years (I don’t make it to the cities often) and have been craving them. My husband and my 2 little girls went in there for lunch and got the coney dogs, large fry and some ravioli. The server advised that a large fry would be plenty for the whole table and boy was he right. The staff was very sweet and attentive to us. My husband was worried taking a 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 year old into a “dive bar” but after we left he was very happy we went. Great food and great staff.

I recently stumbled upon a hidden gem, a small hole-in-the-wall dive bar that left me completely astounded by its remarkable service. From the moment I stepped through the door, I knew I had discovered something special. Sherri, the bartender, went above and beyond to ensure my visit was nothing short of outstanding.

First and foremost, Cheri hospitality was truly exceptional. Her warm and welcoming demeanor made me feel like a valued guest from the moment I took a seat at the bar. She effortlessly managed to strike the perfect balance between attentiveness and giving me space to enjoy the experience. Sherri's knowledge and enthusiasm for the bar's offerings were truly remarkable. She patiently answered all of my questions, providing insightful recommendations that were spot-on. Her genuine passion for her craft and dedication to customer satisfaction were evident throughout my visit.

One of the aspects that impressed me the most was the affordability of the prices. Dive bars often have a reputation for offering great deals, and this place certainly lived up to that expectation. Despite the low prices, the quality of the drinks was not compromised in the slightest. Whether you prefer classic cocktails or local brews, the diverse selection available at this establishment is sure to cater to every palate without breaking the bank.

Beyond the exceptional service and affordable prices, what truly set this dive bar apart was the inviting and friendly atmosphere. The cozy ambience, with its dimly lit space and rustic decor, instantly made me feel at home. The bar was filled with an eclectic mix of locals and visitors, all engaged in friendly conversations and laughter. It was evident that this place has cultivated a genuine sense of community, where everyone is welcome and encouraged to have a good time.

My experience at this dive bar, with Sherri as my bartender, was nothing short of extraordinary. Her remarkable hospitality, paired with the affordability of the drinks and the warm and friendly atmosphere, created an unforgettable evening. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, this hidden gem is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable night out. I cannot recommend it enough, and I look forward to returning soon for another fantastic experience!

I went here with a few work colleagues to end the night. The AC in this place was perfect after a hot day of being outside. It definitely struck me as a more unfussy bar and restaurant as mentioned in their description. This gives it a nice and laid back atmosphere as well. The employee taking orders and cooking was respectful and a great server too. We had accidentally walked in here earlier in the day and it was pretty busy, but it had calmed down later in the day which made for easy seating.

I had never had a coney dog before and I almost never eat hot dogs, but I figured that I should try something new atleast once. I turned out to be really pleased with the cheese coney dog that this place serves up. There were a couple things that really made this delicious. First off, the bun. They don't use a basic hot dog bun which can tend to fall apart or not hold enough toppings. Instead, they use this thicker bun that toasted up perfectly on the grill top. It also pulls in some flavors from the butter or oil it is being toasted in. They make their meat sauce in house which was also fantastic. I believe the server said the hot dog is something they get ordered for the restaurant as well. It didn't taste like a regular boring hotdog. It had a totally different taste and texture to it. The tanginess from the mustard and onions adds an element to the coney dog that balances everything out, and it made for a harmonius bite each time. I was glad that a couple colleagues introduced me to this place, and I would definitely recommend...
