This past Saturday evening, my husband and I purchased a ticket for $75.00 for the drive-in show. It was expensive but we have always enjoyed Free Fall's outdoor and indoor shows, so we were excited for the evening. The idea of creating an outdoor drive-in during this pandemic was ingenuous. I was intrigued and excited for the evening. I am sad to say it was a complete waste of my time and most definitely our hard-earned money. The opening act was nothing more than music piped through my radio. I could do that at home for free. Once the show began, it was a good idea. Thinking outside the box and using resources to provide entertainment via this means was great, but sadly the storyline was awful with no comedic elements. Read moreHad the rare opportunity to see a very unique presentation of Bernarda Alba at the Freefall Theatre a week or so ago. If it wasn't for the size of the theatre, (which is not a hinderance but merely not a broadway stage), you would have easily been transported in to what I consider the closest to a Broadway performance. The quality of the facility which houses a 270 degree seating area surrounding a uniquely arranged setting for that particular production, was not only comfortable, but well placed for optimum viewing. The presentation of BA did not miss a beat, performed by true professionals in every capacity, from set design, to performers, musicians, and volunteers - you were there....on the Great White Way. i am not from florida so i don't know the tampa arts scene but man oh man... if this place is flying under the radar at all i would be shocked. quality line up of performances season after season. impeccable casting both show to show as well as the crew that stays year round.
the owner and crew put their heart into everything they do and it shows.
if you're looking for an intimate theater sized experience with touching and thoughtful performances i don't know why you would look any further than freeFall. they are amazing!
go support local arts and become a member! it's well worth it. i will be attending many more shows whenever i'm in town. i'm only sad i don't live closer to come...
