I set an appt to come in to get my last name changed and issued a state license since I’m from out of state. I waited in the line outside & eventually it was my turn to go in. At first everyone was so nice. I didn’t realize that I was supposed to have a bunch of other stuff. This was my first experience & I had read online that I was only supposed to bring in my marriage license, a piece of mail w/ my address on it, and my social security card. So I went home & grabbed the missing paperwork. The guy told me before I left that I could skip the line when I got back. So I drove the 35 minutes home, grabbed my stuff, and came back. The guy at the door was so kind & immediately recognized me and said “come on in - just grab a new ticket and sit down.” I got to skip the line. I was so grateful. I sat and waited in a chair again for about 45 minutes. Not a problem at all! When I got up to the counter, there was another lady there so kind & so welcoming. As I searched my purse for my Social Security card, which is always there, I realized that I didn’t have it. The lady at the counter suggested a W-2. It was on my email but not printed. The girl told me the exact same thing the guy said from the first time. “Go print your W-2, and when you get back you can skip the line and grab a new ticket.” So I went, printed my w-2 (which took like 10 mins) and came back. The door guy was gone and there was a different lady there. From the start she was so harsh. I told her I had just been there and needed to quickly just grab something. She let me in, reluctantly. Little did I know, she followed me in. As I told the lady at the ticket counter that I was just returning, the lady who followed me in started SCREAMING at me. In front of everyone who was waiting. “I thought you said that you were just here?!” I told her I had been about 10 mins ago. She continued yelling at me. “Do you see that line out there? You think you can just skip past all of those people? Get to the back of the line!!” I walked out and just left. I got to my car & just cried. It had already been such a long day. The whole process had taken me like 4 hours. I didn’t mean to forget my stuff, and I take complete responsibility for that. How I was treated though by the last lady, was unacceptable. I will never use...
Read moreI made an appointment to get a new license in Utah since I recently moved from out of state. I found the location challenging to find, as it is in the parking lot of the Utah Fairpark Grounds. There is no sign for the Driver’s License Division on the main road. When I visited, there were signs for Repticon and what looked like a ticket booth at the only open entrance, so it took me longer than expected to find the Drivers License Division. I ended up arriving late to the appointment, but the receptionist was kind, and processed my appointment ticket anyway. The staff called my ticket number quickly, but when I told them I needed a new license since I am from out of state, they told me there was not enough time to do so. The supervisor came over and informed me that my appointment was made for a duplicate license, and they were not able to do any new licenses starting at 4:30, which is when my appointment time was. They showed me how to make the correct appointment online, by clicking on the “I have an out of state license” button, and I had done the same thing when making my appointment online. I am assuming it must’ve been a computer fluke or issue when I was making the appointment. Has anyone else had this issue? I made a new appointment at the DMV in Draper and my main critique is the contrast in comprehensiveness between the two locations when making the appointment. My confirmation email for the Fair Park location had only provided my appointment time and confirmation number, while the Draper branch confirmed that I had made an appointment for an original license, the time of the appointment, the location of the appointment, and other helpful information.
I know that this is a higher level issue then the staff I interacted with, and I appreciate them; however, I feel that a government agency should have clearer outlines, especially when you have to pay almost 60 dollars for a...
Read moreThis is me ten minutes after leaving the Utah Drivers License Division --fairgrounds. Three weeks ago they told me to my face they couldn't help me until I ordered another social and birth certificate, (mine are currently sitting in a flooded bayou somewhere in Houston). So I did, and this is what I was sent. Today I was told they could not accept a "photo copied" version because it was the law. The LAW sent me this (all crooked and half printed, I crumpled it after they told me it was garbage) and I was GRATEFUL to even get one that fast considering the fact I am certainly NOT ALONE there are THOUSANDS of FLOOD VICTIMS and SO MANY RECORDS LOST, and I am lucky to have my losses only be material. Nonetheless, UTAH DLD said they couldn't accept it as a form of identification. Yesterday was my birthday, and I asked them for one bit of good news, sympathy, something. So now, I would like to publicly ask UTAH and the UTAH Drivers License Division, WHY DO YOU HATE FLOOD VICTIMS? I am being punished for the systems being literally flooded and overloaded because I apparently I HAVE NOT SUFFERED ENOUGH. Every attempt I have made to start my life over and make roots has been thwarted, I can't open a bank account, I can't get an ID card, and apparently the only way I get heard or treated like a human being is when I PUBLICLY CALL THEM OUT. It took 3 months and a negative review to even be able to set up services here so that I can receive much needed post trauma therapy and help. So, I will keep posting this, social media, yelp, everywhere, because this is only ONE of the faces you are DELIBERATELY hurting by not having a heart to care. I am sickened, disgusted, traumatized, and hurt beyond words and it has made me so livid I refuse to remain silent. SHAME ON YOU UTAH DRIVERS LICENSE DIVISION #iamnotalone #harveystrong...
