I would not post a single star if I didn't have to, unfortunately I have to to be able to write a review.
My boyfriend our 2 year old daughter and I have been traveling from 10 hour straight drive from colorado We are exhausted and in need of an afforable motel just to rest for a few hours of the night until our next day of 11 more hour travel time
We find the econo lodge, which we had stayed in for 4 days when we were in colorado and thought it would be a satisfying affordable clean place for us to rest Boy were we wrong When I first went in they told me it was 50 dollars even with a 100 dollar deposit so I said. All right and went to talk to my boyfriend we came back in and all of a sudden it was 56 dollars a night with 100 dollar deposit i gave him 160 and he tried to not give me my change . When we went up to the bedroom at first glance I was like wow this is a large spacious and comfortable looking room, but upon closer inspecting and longer time being spent in the room I had noticed it wasn't nice or comfortable not even to the slightest . It began when I was going to turn the heater on the entire heater was exposed their was no protective cover all coils were exposed! Mind you I have a 2 year old who I expect would be perfectly safe to run around a hotel room . I went into the bathroom and my daughter followed me she screamed and fell into the floor and held onto her foot I looked at the floor and noticed the nail strip for the carpet was exposed underneath a strip of duct tape they put on the floor , it pierced my daughter's foot and now we have to get her foot checked out when we get back home .
In the bathroom there was nail polish on the counter They had coffee but no coffee maker The bathtub and the toilet was covered in curly black pubic hairs The water took about 20 minutes to slightly warm up for a shower The shower wall had a good size hole in it The doors stuck and it was hard to open The walls all stained the mirror had nail polish I pull the blankets off to see if it's clean enough for my daughter to sleep in and the inside of the covered were just covered in yellow stains from God knows what.
The mattress box spring was exposed to the point where if my daughter or anyone had tried stepping up it could have sliced their foot up
The front door had been kicked in before and was missing a lock The lamp shade was missing Another lamp shade was melted The phone completely outdated and covered in dirt
Our neighbors woke me up at 3am to the sound of a woman moaning like an animal in labor Their headboard was banging against my daughter's I had to tell them to shut ☝ up Then their lighters kept flicking in a non smoking room And they began arguing and then their dog began barking non stop my boyfriend had to yell at them We could smell drugs coming from,their room and the front office didn't even give a rats ass when we called and complained about all this didnt offer any services or change of room
He was very rude to me when I called to inform him the room was damaged and I didn't want to get blamed for it and lose my 100 dollar deposit then my bf called them because the television didn't work the power button was busted and the back of the remote was missing
During breakfast the Orange juice tastes as if it had mold in the machine and the bagels were stale the guy who worked there came in aggressively and told everyone they need to leave and eat in their rooms because it was 9:01am and the breakfast closes at 9am We called corporate and they were disappointed but they said there is not much we can do because Encino lodges are individually owned
We talked to front staff (luckily he was calm and decent to us unlike the night staff) andhe said well get a call around 3pm from manager
Hopefully they refund us because this is total bullshit Now we're hardly rested up and have a very long trip ahead of us I will post. The pictures...

(So I'll credit the star to the online booking service who honored every end of their agreements with us, but nothing goes to the Econolodge, their management, or their employees.) We chose Not to stay after experiencing only 1 hour of this place. We actually wanted to leave immediately, but tried to stick it out. There were Drug needles & bags on the ground in parkinglot next to our vehicle, in hallway, & on staircase, the rooms Not clean, keys wouldn't work for doors, shady people lurking around our vehicle-trying to break in, mold on walls, stains on the comforter/carpet, shower curtain rod held up by duct-tape & a cardboard shim, smelly, burn holes on curtains/bedding/carpet. Unsafe & unsanitary! Unsettlingly & scarey!Exhausted after a 20 hour trip of trains & buses, we arrive to Econolodge & are told by front desk that although the room was ready, we would have to pay $75 extra in Cash as a cleaning deposit & early check in fee in order to check in. (Despite the fact we had requested/stated online, in the notes, that we'd arrive early). It took like 45 minutes at the front desk, & when at last, they finally gave us our room, was disgustingly Not ready! It hadn't been cleaned or touched by housekeeping at all! The previous guest's food, & "etc mess" was all over & it was nausiatingly smelly! So eventually they gave us another room. This one which had no # on the door so we couldn't even find it. When we finally did, we ended up getting the heck outta there in less than an hour & chose to press on & drive the 3 more hours required to get to our final destination, requesting a refund over the phone from the online service which we booked/paid for the room through. We received our full refund, promptly, just as promised, by Choicehotels.com. However, we still haven't received our $75 cash deposit back from the Econolodge hotel management! It's been over a month, they took my bank card numbers, but never credited my account. When I try calling them, they just put me on a never-ending hold or don't even answer at all! Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE!!!! The staff will lie to you, and the manager is NEVER here. I accidently booked this motel. The reviews were bad so I had a different motel picked out. My father passed away and I was here for the funeral so that is how I made the mistake. The web site states the have shuttle service. I had to pay $25.00 for a cab. The night staff said They dont provide this service until Dec 1. I asked for extra pillows. The night staff said he would get them for me. An hour later I called and he said the pillows were in the dryer. The next day I asked the day staff about shuttle service. She said they no longer provide that service due to driver getting in an accident and they can no longer provide that service. I asked about extra pillows she said they do not provide that service because they do not have any extra. I asked when the manager would be in she said the next day at 11am. I went to the office the next day at 1 and asked for the manager. The same female staff said she wouldn't be coming in today. I told her she said manager would be in today at 11. She said well maybe she would be in tomorrow but it is the holidays so she doesn't really know. This place is VERY noisy and the wifi gives only 1 bar of service. You can hear every time someone closes their door, and maid service all day. No way to get rest. The photo's of the room is NOTHING like how it really is. I had the do not disturb sign out and staff came in anyway. I was here for a funeral, I really didn't need this added stress. I cant leave because I had to sign a paper that if I checked out early I would have to pay for the day anyway. I am booked for 3 nights. Due to circumstances beyond my control I will be here another day. I booked a different hotel. I called customer service and they took my complaint then said I have to call them again AFTER I check out so they can try to make this right for me. How do you fix a problem after the customer is gone? If you like to be lied to and depend on the website to choose your hotel then this is the place for you.
