I am disgusted with how Sunset Mall's management handled an incident that occurred with one of their stores. Buy The Way is a store operating within Sunset mall. It sells overpriced, cheaply made apparel and accessories. How the owner of the store treated me one day was appalling. I had purchased some merchandise from Buy The Way but when I tried to return some of it, within the 14 day time frame, with receipt in hand, still unworn and with tags, the owner refused to refund and only offered store credit. Politely I protested that this was not her store's policy as indicated on my receipt. She began screaming at me and told me to leave her store. In complete shock, I went looking for and found a security guard to hopefully help me with the situation. When I recanted how irrationally she behaved, he put up a hand to shush me and said that I just needed to stay away from her store. (What?!) Later that same day I contacted the mall's customer service dept. The lady listened to what I had to say, paused when I had finished and rhetorically asked "What am I supposed to do about it?" Needless to say, I neither recommend the mall nor the store Buy The Way. I ended up disputing the charges with my bank. After my bank spoke to the rude owner and following a 30 day investigation, my bank found itself in my favor and refunded me my money. It no longer was about the money for me. She is just a...
Read moreWhile Sunset Mall is indeed a mall, it feels more like a ghost town than anything. With the high cost of leasing being the reason some businesses say that they choose to close their doors, this mall never seems to be at more than 80% of it's business capacity.
The mall has gone from 5 anchor stores to 2. Dillard's expanded into one of them making a men's and a women's store. Conn's moved into one half of the old Sears store but I wouldn't consider them an anchor store. They seem to be more of a home furnishings store that sells things for the inside of the home. The other half of the old Sears store is a Gymnastics center.
Sunset mall houses around 70 stores. About 10-15 are currently empty (as of this review). Of those, 5 or 6 are dedicated to food. 4 are dedicated to the government in the form or recruiters offices. Possibly 5 because the Army's office is twice the size of the others. There's a 1440 Gym attached to the mall. There's several, what I would call, mom and pop stores in the mall. Those stores that are not national and just a local business.
Overall the mall seems to be on the downslide. A dying mall if you will. It just doesn't have to pizzazz as other malls. While there are a few national stores that still remain, a plethora of nationally known stores have moved out and have not been replaced with...
Read moreBefore you try to hate on this mall, think about it, we are not in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, we are in San Angelo. So for where we are, it’s actually pretty good. And while we’re on the topic, San Angelo is actually pretty good location. We have a pretty decent amount of stuff here to do without the traffic. And if you want more options, then we have a lot of different places to go and almost 3 Hour Dr. in any direction. OK, maybe four hours, six hours if we’re talking about Houston. But this mall is actually pretty cool, except for the video arcade. The video arcade is a complete rip off. I would rather drive to PrimeTime over in Abilene. If you don’t believe me, go to that video arcade in the mall and then drive to Abilene and go to prime time. If you win any tickets look at the comparison. Although, let’s be fair, those are two completely different establishments. Anyways, I love this mall, they don’t even get mad at me when I put my two year old son in the fountain to start...
