DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Eager to work out I paid for the full year at Heroes Fitness and started going daily and even got plenty of friends to join. I now regret joining and recommending this gym. My membership was revoked due to accidentally colliding a flipping/rolling tire with a wall. When addressed, instead of letting me pay the damages of the wall (which were minimal) I was asked to leave and never return. All the money I had spent on the year went down the drain. Now that I am denied the membership I paid for and all chances of ever returning I no longer feel obligated to withhold the knowledge of the terrible quality of this gym. It really sucks to see all that money leave your account only to witness countless people sneaking in because the staff isn't attentive or when they are, friends of the staff are still let in for free. For all you freeloaders, if you show up late enough to Heroes not a single damn person will stop you from entering and taking advantage of the place. Now that really didn't bother me too much but I plan on leaving no stone unturned in this review. In a nutshell, Heroes is probably the most unsanitary low budget gym in San Angelo. The trash cans in the locker room/restroom area were always overflown. I made sure to use the restroom before I arrived because the toilets were often clogged with residue of crap still on the seat for some reason. On rainy days sometimes there were no trash cans in the restrooms at all because they were being used to catch water dripping from the ceiling all over the facility. It stinks a lot of the time and on multiple occasions the floor has been sticky. It's encouraged to clean your machine/station once you've finished with it. They even have spray bottles and paper towel dispensers around the gym to do so. But just as anyone else can conclude, Heroes doesn't take sanitation seriously and fails to even put paper towels in the dispenser. I will say a lot of the equipment was decent if it still had a seat, padding, or grip. The "indoor track" is just the path in between the weights and machines. They put tape on the ground to simulate a track but it just looks ridiculous. Large free weight selection if the weights were actually in the correct spot and not scattered around the entire gym. But hey, if you can find them you might be able to get a workout in. It was sad to leave Heroes because I was used to the routine of it all, but I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. They lost a loyal customer just like I'm sure they lose plenty every year. Please explore your options before...
Read moreLet me tell you about the best gym in San Angelo. You roll up to a huge parking lot. There’s always VIP parking (that’s what my kids call it). Because the lot is so big, there’s always a great spot to choose.
As you approach the doors, there’s almost always another gym member walking out who holds the door for you. That’s just the kind of friendly atmosphere that surrounds the place. You can’t help but get a friendly nod or fist bump from the regulars.
A front desk attendant will greet you with some finger guns, or maybe a joke of the day. They always greet me by name and there’s always a smile on their face! I wish I could say I had a favorite, but literally EVERYONE is incredible. They’re cool if you want to chat it up for a few minutes, but also very knowledgeable if you’ve got questions!
After check in, my kids all race to get back to KidFit. They absolutely love the girls back there ! Kiersten and Casey are freaking MVPs and masters of all things kid related. They decorate for all the holidays and make it so dang fun. My kids beg to go every morning.
Anywho, once I drop off the hooligans in their very capable hands, I can get on with the workout. The group fitness classes are like one big family and they have new releases all the freaking time so you don’t get stuck in a rut (they run those things morning and night so they work with every schedule!) There’s cardio machines for days, you’ll never have to wait for a turn. The free weights area is full of benches and dumbbells of every variety. The weight machines are organized in a way that makes it easy to maneuver around to find what you’re hitting that day. And the cleanliness?? Oh my heck. The cleaning crew is literally there day and night- I swear I’ve never seen them slacking. They’re always cleaning and keeping up on the maintenance of the machines.
Joining this gym will absolutely be the best decision you ever make. The prices are unbelievable- so inexpensive it will blow your mind. TruFit is just so gosh dang good. Do...
Read moreGreat gym, love the group classes, but DO NOT EVER sign up for personal training at this place. They pressure you into signing up more than car salesmen! They act like they've told you everything on the contract but haven't. Once you are signed up, they never give you a straight answer about how to cancel! They take every last penny they can without a care in the world about the person behind the contract! They raise the amount any time they want without notifing the contracted... I told them I wanted to cancel they said I'd have to wait till my contract expired. Once my contract expired, they automatically re-enroll you even though you've notified them that you wanted to cancel. You call the corporate office and tell them you want to cancel after getting billed again, they say well it's probably the previous month that you're getting billed for. You get billed again and then they inform you of the 30 day cancellation notice. You get billed again and then they inform you that they need the notice in writing. You dispute the charges with your bank and win. Think everything is over, 6 months later without any written mailed or emailed or phone call stating that you have a balance and your membership is still active, THEY SEND YOU TO COLLECTIONS!!! You get a copy of that wretched contract and read that a written mailed statement to cancel is NOT ENOUGH like they said it would be, NO THEY WANT A CERTIFIED LETTER!!! UBF PERSONAL TRAINING is the most unethical and not fraudulent company I have ever dealt with!! STAY AWAY!!! Here is a response from the OWNER about how to cancel and not succeed!! He states all you need is a letter mailed to them, but even HE gave you WRONG INFORMATION because you need a freaking CERTIFIED letter, if not, they will throw your letter away and act like they never got it! Sorry Jared Grey from a previous review, you got the wrong...
