Alfa Fitness — Attraction in San Antonio

I recently attended a fitness class at this facility, and unfortunately, my experience was not positive. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a staff member who seemed more interested in her phone than welcoming new attendees. I stood there for a moment, unsure of where to go or whether I needed to check in. When I finally asked for assistance, she simply pointed me to a screen to check in—no further guidance or warm welcome offered.

After checking in, I was still uncertain about what to do next. I noticed some attendees grabbing mats and weights, so I approached the staff member again to ask if I needed to do the same. She confirmed that I did but offered little more than a vague gesture toward the equipment. Thankfully, other participants were friendly enough to help me figure out what I needed.

In my experience, most fitness facilities provide a quick orientation for newcomers, including a warm welcome and helpful information. Unfortunately, that was lacking here. The instructor, who was different from the staff at the front, was nice, but the class was fast-paced, and I had to figure out my own modifications.

The Zumba class on Saturdays is a 10/10!!! It definitely took me a minute to catch on to some of the steps and moves (I’m not a dancer—and you can definitely tell! lol), but that didn’t stop me from having a blast. This class is always so positive and fun! The instructor creates such a welcoming environment every time you walk in.
