I came here in Feb to fix a problem where my laptop was over heating and causing crashes. Two weeks later I got it back with more problems then I came in with.
I specified what diagnostics I had run through and how to replicate the crash the fastest way possible. I said that using MSFS2020 fully modded was the bench test to cause the problem, however running it un-modded would cause the issue but slower, the crashes would also occur in other games just not as fast.
I specifically asked them to: Clean the fans/air vents If required re-paste components Flash Bios If that didn't solve the issue I was happy if they reinstalled Windows.
I was told they would look into it in a couple of days when a space freed up, so I left my laptop there.
When I called back a few days later to see if there was an update, I was told that I was running too many mods and that that was probably causing the issue.... FACEPALM. I yet reiterated that this was just the bench mark to make it happen fast, this was happening with other games.
This is where the back and forth started happening, every couple days I would give them a call to see what was going on, I was bounced between 2 employees who were clearly not communicating with each other. This frustration was shared by one who did apologies to me that this was happening. One would leave notes to have work done on the laptop, the other wouldn't do what was on the notes.
Before I got the laptop back they confirmed that all the work had been done and re-pasting the thermals was not required. Since they were doing a fresh install of Windows they asked me if I wanted any applications loaded onto the laptop which is a nice services, however I turned it down as I'm tech savy enough to add my own apps.
When I got the computer back I turned it on and... they had loaded the apps I had asked them not to, frustrating but not a deal breaker.
The crashes had stopped and the overheating was fixed so I was a happy ish camper, though 2 weeks for a Windows reinstall and Bios flash is still not acceptable.
I then started having issues with one of my M.2s disappearing from the system randomly, I did a lot of debugging and troubleshooting as I did not want to go through another 2 week turn around for a simple fix. I decided to take the risk and stripped down the laptop myself, and found that not only was one of my M.2s not seated properly but the vents and fans had not been cleaned out.
This experience has left me with a sour taste in my mouth and I will not be using this company again in the future for any...
Read moreI used to be a customer for many years, purchasing frequently from Allgen for multiple businesses I worked at.
I got into an argument one day with staff about a return where we were accused of not returning everything that was in the package. Staff claimed that they check every single item in the store for completeness when its put out on the shelf.
The problem is people open boxes while browsing and I'm sure items get stolen. The box was not checked when we purchased it and was missing a 3" USB cable. I told them I was returning the item because it didn't work, but they refused the return because they claimed it was missing a cable. To prove there were items missing they got another box from the store shelf and compared everything inside. In addition to the cable, there was a tiny little piece of paper about FCC ID and inspection # at assembly ect.. They claimed that needed to be in the returned package as well for them to accept the item back. At this point it seemed that the employees were just being ridiculous. They actually went into the back to photocopy, and cut a 1 inch paper copy of the government FCC regulation and inspection paper to put back into the returned items box.
Then they told us how they were adding our company to "a list" that would tell employees to check all returned by us, because we had "tried to return incomplete items in the past". They also told us we would be subject to a return fee from that point forward.
As a customer I felt I was being labeled a thief and it being done in a way all their employees would see it every time I made a purchase. As a business owner and having worked with many companies I'd never treat a customer like this.
I have worked in the IT industry for several years, and avoided purchases from Allgen since this incident. I've met other IT people and business owners who have had similar experiences with Allgen.
I would be willing to give them another chance, hopefully staff and customer service has changed since this incident 10 years ago, but I am not convinced after...
Read moreDO NOT BELIEVE THE RATINGS. Came in with a straightforward PC issue. As I was telling the man at the counter, who I assume was the owner, every symptom the rig was having I noticed he wasn't writing anything down and responding "Ooh" "Hah, okay" to everything I was saying.
Gave the benefit of the doubt because this place was recommended to me. After a couple days I get a call from someone at the shop ASKING me what the problem was saying they did a 24-HOUR STRESS TEST even after I told the first fool that would do NOTHING. Basically beat my rig up for 24 hours straight for no reason. I had pointed out VERY specifically how to replicate the error. So I breathe and tell the young dude the SAME thing I told the old man.
A couple more days go by and I get another call from someone at the shop telling me "It's ready". That's it. Just, it's ready. No explanation or anything, had to pry the information of what they did and what they think the problem is. Curious enough the rig has a occasionally loud tic sound and not one of the two that called me mentioned it.
At this point I feel like I'm definitely getting scammed, went to the wrong place, going to lose money just to get my machine back (noticed the big "WE WILL SCRAP YOUR RIG FOR FAILURE TO PAY", right next to the incredibly odd free calendars of puppies and hot rods). So they sell me on this idea that it was a bad RAM stick and they just so happen to have 2 replacement sticks of the same Mhz. Well that was wrong too and they changed the placement of the sticks too. Not to mention they're AMD specialized sticks when my machine is Intel.
Got the machine back, crashed again even worse. Wasted $300 and they didn't even flip the off switch on the PSU.
It's remarkable these people even have the knowledge to turn their own computers on let alone fix yours.
Stay away from this place and just go to...
