Yesterday my wife and I had the pleasure of taking a wine tour with Matt. We visited 2 wineries, Sister Lake and Kalasi. On our way to the wineries Matt was a fountain of knowledge about San Antonio, the state of Texas, it's history and the making of wine in Texas and especially in Texas Hill country. At Sister Lake winery he gave a detailed account of it's operation and enjoyed the wine tasting. Of course we purchased a bottle of our choice. We then drove to the second winery Kalasi and enjoyed the wine tasting and again purchased a bottle of our choice. The tour was one of the best we've experienced and that's down to Matt. Thoroughly recommend taking this tour if in the San Antonio area. Thanks again Matt. Graham and Sue.

A late lunch was in Fredericksburg - everyone was now getting tired after all that wine, so we headed back to San Antonio. This was an over-the-top day for my wife and her sister - and Dianna made it...

Wine tasting venues were interesting and a nice bucolic getaway from the madding crowds of the city. But sorely disappointed with Fredericksburg. Of course, we saw only the main drag, which consisted mainly of kitschy tourist establishments. But even had there been more to the town--as surely there must be--the time constraints left almost no time both to explore and to find a spot at one of the crowded eateries. At the same time, the 7-hours allocated for the tour is a sweet spot since you don't want to get back to the city exhausted. So kind of a Catch-22! Still, we're glad we went; it was an overall...
