I took my 3 young grandsons here and have to say, we loved the miniature golf course with all the water and plants. It was a very enjoyable atmosphere. However, I was a little annoyed with the service. They kind of herded us towards the cash register to pay for the golfing without bothering to mention a couple of important details:
You are able to grab several golf balls per person, and probably should, since you are highly likely to lose at least one in the water. After losing our second ball and walking back to the front to get another, we were lucky that the people behind us had several and offered us replacements!
There is only one soda machine about midway through the course and absolutely no water fountains or other sources of refreshment. The soda machine only accepts cash. If you want to stay hydrated, buy your drink at the front to take on the course with you. I was stuck with 3 thirsty kiddos and a little perturbed that nobody offered that information before we went out there.
The soda machine and arcade games only accept cash. The front desk does not offer cash back on purchases, nor do they have an ATM machine. Unbelievable, but true. Bring cash if you want to enjoy the arcade. I intended to play some arcade games with the kids but left instead. They lost out on at least $10-20 worth of business from me.
All in all, I loved the place and will probably go back because of the relaxed, fun atmosphere. I just feel like the employees could have done a lot more to make our experience more enjoyable by providing a little guidance instead of thinking that people who have never been there should automatically...
Read moreThe experience goes too fast!! I have been going to this place since I was a kid and have loved ever iteration. Current owners are very hands on and proud of reworking this place, as he put it, to "its former glory". I have never had a bad or, no pun intended, sub par experience. The fauna is beautifully maintained and they obvious care to give a full 10/10 experience. Staff was delightful and greeted every patron with the same enthusiasm.
The last time I was here was is HS, 2004 ish. Before then I had birthday party etc...and recall vague memories in the early 80s of one of my brothers and I having a blast. And I was still undoubtedly impressed. I took a date here and while with both agreed that we were so awfully terrible at minigolf, we had loads of fun. It really is an island paradise in the midst of the near northside. You know, I recall it when the land behind was a field where parking lot carnivals set up, the lot next that hosts fast eddies etc was a rock pile.
So happy and delighted this gem had survived and that the new owners are so passionate. I hope to visit again soon. Best minigolf in San Antonio. I will be back. This place lights up the spul of my inner child.
Thank you!!
edit..i saw many empty water bottles crushed and placed in the stands meant for drink cups, but no place to recycle/dispose of along the course. Any pland to add a few along the course, particularly at...
Read morePerfect family outing to satisfy all and keep the pocketbook happy for more than 30 years for me. I remember coming here as a kid and being enthralled by the mountain of magic waiting to be explored and the views to be taken in. Even in middle of a 105 degree summer day it was fun; going up the hill gives u a nice breeze and there are a decent amount of shaded areas. Of course it was hot but my 70s year old parents did fine and still had tons of fun. My young kids had a blast bc it was a huge adventure for them and a challenge that kept them focused and luckily wore them out, plus they have a bunch of arcade games etc inside & drinks/food to cool off and of course bathrooms & plenty of parking. My favorite part is getting to the top of hill and enjoying the views for a while from a shaded bench & strong breeze! Favorite hole for sure is the hole I have to fly over the water! I was so lucky growing up to have this gem so close, now that I live hours away I take advantage when...
