This is a review of the children's play area which is closest to the west entrance. Enter the park and go right to find a pretty decent sized parking lot. Only on one occasion as the parking lot actually been completely full, otherwise, it almost always has available spots.

This is my favorite park to come to with my little ones since it has slides as well as swings and a foam covered floor, making it the perfect place for crawlers and early walkers. The park is designated for 3-5yr olds but plenty of less than 3 yr olds always come. The play area also has a neat hill climbing area for kids as well - perfect for them to burn their energy playing in. There are no nearby restrooms though - but I think my life for the play area is enough to trump this negative feature leaving my review at 5stars.

They do have port-a-potties but the concept has been too disgusting for me to even go in to be honest. There is one water fountain in the area but the water is tap so use it at your own discretion.

The playground is adjoined by a really cool and shaded trail that was mostly stroller friendly (mostly because jogger strollers would probably be best fit since the city stroller was struggling). The trail was nicely shaded by trees on both sides and had a forest like feel. It was marked as level 3 but I would say it felt like a level 1 to be honest.

The park is clean and offers some great features for parents of older infants and toddlers. Definitely a cool place to check out especially for my hikers or parents with...

Today, I was surprised at how well-maintained and laid-out the parking areas, trails, and signage are presented. The mixed trail floorings (natural, decomposed granite, paved concrete) provide a refreshing variety of textures and sounds for a very pleasant walking experience.

My Garmin GPS overshot the East park entrance, but in turning around at the next street I ran across Blanco BBQ (serendipity!) and made a graceful roundabout to the entrance.

The traffic flow in the parking area is marked ONE-WAY with a reason, but there were still mentally chlenged drivers who fought the flow of traffic to take a parking spot.

Luckily, no wildlife were harmed during my final leave after my group walk.

Despite the idiots who don't recognize the established rules, this was a very nice and welcome experience. Definately rated for another...

Wonderful park with large playground on padded mats. The playground is broken up into 6 sections, which include an area for small kids, swings, tall slide, two different climbing structures, and a merry-go-round. There are rows of concrete picnic tables between the parking lot and the playground. That's a nice place to sit while your kids play. There are a few benches on the playground if you want to be closer. Most of the park has been left as natural woods. The paths are gravel or paved and often shaded. There are bathrooms at a pavilion a short distance away at the end of the parking lot. There's a place to refill water bottles by the sinks outside the bathrooms. The only downside of this park is that parking is fairly limited and fills quickly...

Urban green space in between residential areas within San Antonio with picnic areas and dog park at its east entrance. Well laid-out easy trails of various distances to challenge humans and pets alike. Good portion of them are under tree shade to abate the searing summer heat. This time around, I got to run into a small herd of deer munching away, not even 25 ft from the trail. Obviously unafraid of my petite canine companions, we looked at each other, allowed me to take a few photos of the adult females (the young'uns decided not to talk to strangers, good idea in general) and said our 'byes. Crossed the new land bridge that overpasses Wurzbach Pkwy and returned to the East entrance. Definitely a return visit will be merited after the landscape matures.

Hardberger Park is one of the reasons why I love San Antonio, Texas. So much beauty inside the city and sometimes it's hard to believe that you are still in the 7th largest city in America. Whether you are here for the park itself or just passing through on the Greenway this Park has so much to offer from bird/wildlife blinds recently installed as was the massive land bridge to allow people and wildlife to cross in safety the expressway. I crossed the land bridge and was very impressed as I had been watching it being built over the previous years and am happy with my tax money being spent on making such parks and green spaces to keep San Antonio beautiful. God bless Texas and San Antonio!
