If I could give them a zero I certainly would. Black mold through out the apartment. They told my daughter who is 4 months pregnant she needs to vacate for at least 2 days. Meanwhile not offering any assistance. She obviously is very reluctant to go back and definitely does not want her newborn to live there. They advised her they will not allow her to vacate or terminate her lease early and advised if they leave she will owe the rest of the contract and did not offer another apartment in that complex nor did they even offer to pay for a hotel stay while they removed an entire wall, sprayed bleach and put blowers in there. It’s hard to believe that not only management but the corporate office do not care about a pregnant woman’s health. As a mother I’m furious and only after an email stating we were willing to go to court to terminate the lease agreement, they sent an email stating they were “willing” to release her from the contract.Apparently putting pregnant women on the street is their solution to their lack of care for their property and improper AC installation. Prior to this their AC was out for almost 2 months, they went without water for 2 weeks and the dishwasher didn’t work for the first 6 months of their lease. Please Becareful with your pets, they do not enforce their leash laws, my daughter also had to make several complaints for be confronted by an aggressive dog off leash, and animal control had to be called, all of this has been documented with pictures, emails, and video and still they offer no solutions. The pictures of the conditions you pay over $1550 a month for say more than I ever could. Broken glass from cars being broke into, terrible parking conditions, razor blades just laying around and appliances just sitting in the walkway,that refrigerator was literally blocking the stairs and I had to move myself. When I asked Unique to have the “maintenance “ men move it she stated “they were busy and would get to it” as she waved me off. Unique is very rude and unprofessional. After waiting an hour I shoved it out of the way myself and no one ever came to even try to move it. DO NOT LIVE HERE.

I was needing to relocate fast and Raven gave me a tour before I moved in. The condition of the apartment was alright, not the best but not the worst. She made the offer sound good so I signed a 6 month lease. I understand it's common for apt complexes to charge more for a shorter lease, but I was still charged the highest fees based on the original rent even though I was offered "prorated" rent. They only deduct your prorated portion AFTER charging you all the fees they possibly can, doesn't seem right to me. I also happen to be living in an apartment reviewed by the previous tenant and couldn't agree more with what they said. The place is disgusting, crawling with roaches and everyday I find at least 6 someplace new in the apartment. Every morning I literally evaluate my bathroom so none creep up on me by surprise. Pest Control has treated the apartment before, but the roaches still showed up not even a day after, so what's the point of having the service. Security gates rarely work but it feels more of an inconvenience to have them running due to the tight turn into the complex, especially during traffic, so again what's the point of the service. I can tell the AC units are more than 25yrs old, parking is tight, and they host monthly events to make up for the depressing conditions of the apartment. I cannot understand how anyone enjoys and continues to live here especially in these conditions.

We have just entered our 7th month here at Salado Crossing Apartments. In short, this is absolutely the WORST place I have ever lived. If only a negative score were possible! Upon moving in, AND AFTER we had already applied and paid the fees, the apartment we were supposed to get (I think it was #701) ended up not being available. We were told our only choice was to move into their so-called “deluxe” unit, which would come complete with brand new, quality appliances. LMAO! Yeah, 'cause Hotpoint appliances are top of the line, and laminate = real wood flooring! Plus, they were definitely NOT NEW OR CLEAN. I raised hell over the bait and switch, at which point the manager at that time had to call her superior, and then reluctantly honored the price of the original unit and gave us the deluxe. We actually didn't want the stupid deluxe unit because we wanted carpet, nor did we want to be so close to the front gate. In my experience, that's the worst place to live in a complex, as units closest to the gate always get broken into.

MONTHS 1-6: PURE HELL! This building in particular, and at least a few others, are infested with cockroaches (American, German and Oriental varieties). In fact, the entire apartment is an open invitation to all types of bugs as there are openings everywhere (under the sinks, the poorly weather stripped doors, even the damn exhaust in the main bathroom was literally falling down when we moved in and had roaches coming out of it, falling on us while in the shower. Our trashy neighbors use the common area as their personal storage unit, while the rest of us non-ghetto tenants do the right thing and pay for a storage unit. We complained and management did nothing. The front gate has NEVER worked, my car has been broken into, we requested extermination every month and have gotten it twice, even though we pay for it in the rent. Speaking of, our rent is always MUCH higher than what we were initially told. Since water is split between building tenants, we were not able to get a monthly total in writing as to the cost. Well surprise, surprise, every month we have been charged OVER $100 beyond the actual rent when we were assured that a rare, worst case scenario would be $40.

Finally, someone has tried to break into our apartment TWICE with the actual key itself!!! We were home both times when it actually happened. The thug, who we can now only assume was a previous maintenance worker or manager, was thwarted by the top deadbolt. TWICE, though, they used the key. Just recently, a maintenance worker showed up with someone else with a “work order” for a leaky washer connector. NO EMAIL, NO PHONE CALL, no announcement that they we entering our home! Suspicious!!! We requested multiple times for our apartment to be re-keyed, and it was done after weeks of pestering them. However, they only re-keyed the front door, not the back. We requested that they do this immediately, and guess what, they never did. Suspicious!!!

MONTH 7: Management is brand new as of last week. While I understand that these new people have nothing to do with the way things were previously handled, this review is a reflection of the PROPERTY OWNER, who could have been doing the right thing all along, but who obviously puts profit before people and/or doing the humane thing. I will update this review at the end of my tenancy here, which couldn't come quick enough.

As a side note, the new management has actually evicted some trashy degenerates already, not to mention, fired all other previous staff. This is a step in the right direction;

HOWEVER, DO NOT BE FOOLED, THIS PLACE IS...

PROS: The apartment is not only newly renovated (excluding the tub and toilet) but it is very spacious. They have the biggest balconies and one of the most spacious apartments in San Antonio. It does not have many residents unlike many larger apartments in the area that hold over 1,000 units. It is always clean and forestry.

My favorite part about Salado is that it is located in an awesome area. There is a Wal-Mart, Blanco's BBQ, CVS within walking distance. The park is literally beside the apartments. I was able to lose over 25lbs because I live close to an active park with beautiful scenery. The people are kind in the area for the most part. I had an issue with management, but they changed management. I am happy about that for several reasons and I hope the new management will not be cold-hearted or rude.

NEUTRAL: Maintenance is always the same at apartments, they are average when it comes to time and performance. Parking is average like any other apartment complex you live in. Noise gets loud sometimes at night with airplanes, people and car alarms going off and it is quiet other times just like other apartments. I have not had any thefts but I did hear some issues about theft around Christmas and early January, my experience is it is a safe place to live and I hope it remains that way.

CONS: These apartments would be better if there were amenities and a trail to the park (all the other apartments in the vicinity have a trail). My family either has to cross the street using the traffic light or go through this uncleared back park where a stroller or bike could not pass. There is no small gym to work out at in the apartments. Compared to other apartments in the area they over charge a bit because other apartments are charging less yet offer much more amenities.

Salado charges what they say is $890/month for a two bedroom one bath is actually $931/month because they force you to pay for the installed Basic Cable Time Warner that is supposedly $50 extra per month, which no one informed us about until the day we were ready to move-in. We would have chosen Cape Cod if we knew rent was over $900, our goal was maximum $900/monthly. After all the fees that are charged, it comes up to $890/month plus $50/month plus approximately $41 for trash/water/pest control totaling about $970 excluding internet and electricity.

Note: I had a few many bad experiences with this apartment before 6 months of living here. I have 6 more months to go. I do not dislike the apartments but I do not like them, either. I am overall neutral towards the place because I have lived in worse apartments and I have lived in outstanding apartments. If they get a trail, nicer staff, and offer at least one additional perk or amenity it may be a great...
