There was a situation with certain staff members. I was trying to tutor a student and was directed to the quiet area. Then a person who seemed like a manager basically aggressively told me to leave the area and it became a tense situation very quick. Another librarian had complained I was tutoring in the quiet area and using the whiteboard.
Someone could calmly explained and suggest another area. Also there was no one in the quiet area expect me. No one even came after. A staff complained that my just whispering there would turn people away. Anyways I’m happy to switch areas but I don’t need the disrespect and rudeness. Libraries should be places to learn and encourage education not policing people and passive aggressively dealing with them. I switched areas immediately after being told. I wanted to tell the lady to not be passive aggressive about it and it’s not like I’m not going to listen. You don’t need to escalate a nonexistent situation. However I held back because the of the student with me Massive Karen energy. I do not feel welcome there not sure why they immediately treated me like that. Not sure if it’s...
Read moreThe librarians for the most part are nice to adults. What brought me to make a review however, was the way I seen how they talk to the students that come here to wait for parents to pick them up. I get it, some of the kids can do things to upset them and the librarians will literally gossip about the kids in front of them. They’re like guard dogs ready to attack the moment a kid with a back pack comes in. One of the main ladies there kicks the kids out and talks to them so ugly. Just recently I overheard her trying to force a child to apologize to someone who reported being bumped into.. meanwhile she never apologized for how angry and rude she sounded yelling at her at the front of the library. If you have security, I’m not sure why the ladies at the front our interacting with them.. I don’t think the ladies working there realize how rude and nasty THEY look to other people using the library. There is always a right way to talk to someone regardless of age. Cause I know for a fact they wouldn’t talk to...
Read moreOn par with some of the other reviews this library needs a small facelift or what I would also refer to as a little taxpayer love.
Otherwise, I was a little disappointed in the lack of enforcement of quiet rules. Consider yourself forewarned, this is NOT the place to come study. I was out numbered by the little patrons with zero interest in books and more focused on fighting over the computers and carrying conversations at a volume I’d deem more appropriate for anything but a library. Either way the librarian did finally address it, but a little too late. I finished reading a chapter in my book and dashed out.
I’m a strong advocate for our public libraries but this clearly has become a blockbuster with more interest in DVDs (who even owns one anymore?) Phase this section out. I do value the importance of parents bring their children to the library but this isn’t a dumping ground for you to release the leash so you can comfortably...
