My daughter and I went to see Matilda last night at the theater, this was our first time there. I wasn't expecting much because I knew that it was an old theater and it hasn't been refurbished or anything in a long time, but that was actually one of the things I really loved about the theater was it's more nostalgic, vintage feel. Even the show's overall production value wasn't necessarily bad, but what made the experience not so great was the audio. I wouldn't normally call out anyone specific for things like this, but the theater really needs to invest in a better audio engineer. The voices were all over the place. Levels were not equalized appropriately, all the low end was taken out of the voices and music so it just sounded like these really empty and Hollow voices that had no carry on them, which is a huge issue when you're talking about children's voices being mixed in with adults. I literally couldn't understand 80% of the dialogue that was being spoken, or the words from the songs. Additionally, the music was on a track obviously not an ensemble, but even with that fact the music was so low that the voices just overpowered it and so you had this strange Dynamic of not being able to hear anything the voices are actually saying, but only being able to hear the voices at the same time. Overall, it just created an experience that was less than. I'm hoping since this was our first visit that it was just a one-off because my daughter really wants to come back and see Frozen and I'm all about giving places second opportunities to see if experiences are flukes or not. So that's why my rating is right in the middle. It was a good experience for all the things that I didn't necessarily care about at the end of the day and it was a less than good experience for the main...

I have been a season-ticket holder at the California theater in the past. All of my experiences until yesterday have been so good.

My friend and I got tickets to see the sound of music yesterday, which I was really looking forward to since I just had a total knee replacement, and was happy to get out of the house. The sound of music is one of my favorite performances and I was so looking forward to it.

The performance was excellent. All the actors were good the singing was excellent. However, the behavior of the people in the theater was appalling. People were getting up during the performance standing in the aisle so that you couldn’t see the stage. People were making noise eating in the theater. The family across from us had a child with flashing lights on their shoes, which was like a strobe light on the right side of my face continuously throughout the show. People were talking and just overall being rude.

I have been to other theaters and this theater in the past and have never experienced anything like this. I don’t understand why people were behaving like this.

It was a Sunday afternoon matinee. There were lots of children. They were talking and moving around eating and going in and out of the theater during the performance which I don’t think should be allowed.

I have tickets to see Greece in a couple of weeks. I certainly hope that there is a different crowd at that performance.

Very very...

The theatre is overall really well kept and a beautiful space. They have outstanding productions and a very nice staff (the woman in the Box office with pink hair was super sweet). While there could be a bit more organization about the lines in front of the theatre going in, getting snacks, or picking up tickets -- I don't entirely fault the theatre and moreso the street/sidewalk space.

The Director, House crew, Actors, Tech, and overall staff members were very friendly and made sure everyone was comfortable and happy. While I went to grab snacks for my family and I during intermission, I noticed the Director himself walking about and checking on the audience personally, and that's honestly a very admirable thing to me. I noticed a lot of the staff who were selling waters, shirts, seasonal tickets, and more -- they all wore smiles and carried themselves with an overall pleasant air of welcoming.

The production 'School Of Rock' here was memorable, and I will absolutely be visiting again for sure. If you ever want a comfortable theatre to see good shows, I absolutely recommend the...
