Carmel Mountain Ranch Branch Library — Attraction in San Diego

Love coming here! Especially, with my 2 year old. The gardens outside are his favorite. Especially, since it’s right up the street from our house. However….I’m just confused on the hours. It’s 5:25pm and they close at 6 today(Wed.) . There’s only one librarian in particular that seems to close early. The other librarians don’t do this. She’s also very rude and demanding, rushing us to get out. I asked Security what time they usually close the patio area and he said 5:45. So, why is she(older woman with dark hair & a mask) kicking us out @5:25? She locked all the doors on us after I asked her to wait just a minute, so I could get him in the stroller. I was there tonight March 17, 2025 the last hour and a half before closing. While there the staff was incredibly loud. So much so you could hear their conversation, clear as day, across the library. If you don’t know how to have a conversation using inside voices (I’m not even talking hushed library voices) then working at a library is not a wise choice. Maybe try bartender 😂 the woman making the announcements was loudest of them all (so loud that I feel her making announcements on the intercom was unnecessary because you could hear her just fine without it 🙃). This library is near my apartment, so my son and I sometimes go there and spend time reading books and enjoying educational activities. Even though we are foreigners, this library has provided our family with the same membership and services. Especially Mrs. Dinah always provides not only educational support but also useful information about living in San Diego. She is really helpful and has made me love this city even more.
